Re: 450B shifting speed
I do have a manual but have not looked at it yet. It does shift firm and crisp to me, it will jerk you around pretty good. It changes instantly when you shift it. Not sure if it is supposed to be like that or have a short pause in it. It is a HLR. Reverse neutral high then low.

450B shifting speed
What is the easiest way to adjust the shifting speed on these. Shifts instantly now without any delay. To fast and hard on my neck. I have to use the clutch when going forward and backwards. From high to low isn't that bad.

Re: 450B problem
That little bit of air in it made me think I did something wrong. It has been starting and running good so far. Haven't got to work it any yet but I'm sure it will do alot better now. I'll keep my eye on it for any leaks. Thanks for the advice

Re: 450B problem
Got everything back together today. Bleed the fuel system. Fired up after a couple turns, ran a little rough and rpms fluctuated for a bit. Cracked open the lines on injectors and let it run for 5 minutes and still same issue. Turned it off and let it sit for awhile and cranked it back up. It starte...

Re: 450B problem
Thanks for helping me out with this pump. The problem was when you looked inside the pump below the brass bushing it was not centered up. So when I tried sliding it on the shaft would hit on that. Lavoy recommended using a screw driver to align them back up. Did that today and it slipped right on. U...

Re: 450B problem
Got my pump today finally. The timing Mark's where just a little off. Got the seals on. The dots line up. Started putting it on and it slides to the seal and stops. Started inspecting it and as you look inside the pump nothing lines up inside right behind the brass bushing. How do I get these in lin...

Re: John Deere 440 icd advice
I would pull the head off first and inspect the pistons and liners. If they look good, have the head checked and out it back together. Check adjustments on clutches then try it out again. How does it steer and brake. Is the undercarriage good or decent on it.

Looking for the steel guard, right side has vent slots in it so I assume the left would also.

Re: John Deere 440 icd advice
I'd make him a lower offer since he already knows it has issues. Head comes off pretty easy. Get a manual for it also. With head off you can check the liners wear. I would have the head checked out and redone if it's not cracked. Head gasket I bought at deere was 40 bucks. Maybe that is all it needs...

Re: John Deere 440 icd advice
Sounds like a head gasket. Had the same problem on a 450B I just bought. Had the head redone and it fixed my problem. Sounds like a cheap fixer upper. If your able to do the work yourself your just out on parts. Atleast when your done, you know what have when your finished.

Re: 450B problem
Thanks guys, I got the pump pulled off today and getting it ready to send off. Looking inside half way down looks like the seal is half way missing. Guess that is what's broke down. So when I reinstall the pump and the timing Mark's are lined up, it should be in time correct. Or is there more to it ...
