Re: Stump remover ?

That same website explains the long attachment is a stump splitter- it certainly looks like it could work for that task better than the rippers or the blade.

BTW, that is a really cool website with a lot of historic information on old dozers- thanks for pointing to it.

Re: 2010 hydraulic issue

We would generically refer to that as a two-way outside blade.I don't have that type of dozer blade on my 2010s so certainly defer to you if you have confirmed you have an internal pump for the dozer hydraulics. I do know of the rod you are speaking about near your foot- that is the HLR disengagemen...

Re: 2010 hydraulic issue

I don't believe that the hydraulics for the manual dozer blade are in any way plumbed to the HLR- there should be a separate reservoir and pump (pump could be front mounted and driven by the belt or rear mounted Cessna pump and driven by the PTO). It sounds to me that you are low on Hygard (or JD 30...

Re: Poor power from a 450()

Yeah, I have only had my 2010 crawlers with HLR once or twice in gears higher than 2nd and thought I was going to throw the tracks and shake the crawler apart. I really just keep it in 1 or 2 now with high or low and that is plenty for me.

Re: Poor power from a 450()

I would also preface that my comments are based on a non-turbo straight 450- you didn't really say what 450 you have.

Re: Poor power from a 450()

I can't speak specifically about the 450s but it would seem that it shouldn't die in 3rd on that shallow of a grade at no load. Although I have not run my new to me straight 450 dozer much it doesn't seem to have that issue. Does it die in lower gears (1-L or 2-L) under load? It would seem to me tha...

Nice of the guy to offer it up free to the group- a little too far for me but might be some good parts there.

Re: JD 2010 Loader/Backhoe not starting

If I recall the threads correctly, you can buy that part separately from a diesel injection part supplier, However like Lavoy said if the ring disintegrated you would need to clean out all of the debris it caused in the pump and lines. The guy that seemed to know the most about those pumps no longer...

Wow, that's better than the early 60s split window Corvette garage find that was recently in the news.

Re: HLR Transmission Fluid Question

Thanks for the replies. I also found a post last night on another JD tractor website that talked about a JD-brand dye that could be added to Hygard so you could see leaks better. In any case I'm not sure what it is because it doesn't have the smell of ATF and is more purplish but also doesn't look l...

HLR Transmission Fluid Question

Good afternoon- I posted this question in the "Show and Tell" forum so sorry if you have already seen it. I recently bought a JD Straight 450 crawler dozer. One of the issues is that it has a slow leak from the front of the HLR. The leaking fluid is reddish purple, like automatic transmission fluid-...

Re: I Bought a New Toy

Hi B Town- that's a good point that I should track down. I thought the 450s use a pump for priming and transfer but hadn't looked where it is at. If someone has more knowledge on that I would appreciate it.

If you want it moved, you can send an IM to Lavoy and he can do so.

I Bought a New Toy

Well, I haven't been on much recently due to life, but did think it would be good to show you my new toy. It's a 450 crawler dozer with the manual outside blade that I got very reasonably at a recent farm auction. I believe it is a straight 450 (the sale bill for the auction had seven digits for the...

Re: 1010c Diesel loader

Oh, one more thing. I had posted a thread in the "announcements" forum on how to post photos from a third party site, like Photobucket. i think Lavoy may have upgraded the site to host photos directly, but since it appears you are using Photobucket anyhow it might help you to read that thread so the...
