$15 in parts and the cylinder is back in action and working perfectly. I had to vee out the joint where the rod meets the clevis and weld it up good. Someone did a really weak job of welding it and it had cracked. Turns out this cylinder is actually off of a 2010 series tractor. The part numbers wer...

Pendleton Iron Show - 2013
The Pendleton Iron Show was this last weekend, in Pendleton Oregon. A few pictures: A load on. The International H belongs to a friend of mine. http://images.ttyr2.com/albums/Pendleton%20Iron%20Show/tractor_load.jpg Getting my John Deere 'E' 1-1/2HP engine dialed in. http://images.ttyr2.com/albums/P...

Yep. A different cylinder works perfectly, so I'll pull the cylinder down and see what's up. Worst case, I'll pull the bypass valving out and plug the bypass hole with an allen set screw and put it back together. I assume (hopefully) that the piston will bottom out before bending the depth valve rod...

Ok....I actually moved some dirt with the dozer today. The howling noise is definitely coming from the valve on the tractor, not the cylinder. Sometimes the blade lifts up quickly as it should, but most of the time it's slow, like probably 15 seconds to raise all the way. When we were hooking up the...

The problem is intermittent which pretty much has me convinced it's the valve in the cylinder itself. Sometimes the blade rises nicely, sometimes it doesn't. I also didn't realize an average oxy-acetylene cutting torch could heat 4" X 1/2" steel enough to let you bend it with a bar. One of the two a...

The previous #76 blade worked fine on the crawler, so I doubt the on-board valve stack is the problem. The cylinder is marked a4720r. I'm not having any luck pulling up a parts diagram at Deere for that. Can any of you guys help me out? ***Update: Never mind. Page 60-30 in the 40 series parts catalo...

For Sale - John Deere #76 blade, frame, cylinders
I have a #76 John Deere blade assembly that came off my JD 40C but was designed for the JD 1010.
It was modified a bit to fit the 40C, but those modifications can be undone if you want to put it on a 1010, I believe.
I'm asking $500, firm.

Turns out I had to flop the lines. After bleeding the air out, the cylinder is VERY slow to retract but extends fine. Is that by design, or is there something wrong with the internal valve in the cylinder? It's slow enough that grading with the blade would be difficult (too slow to rise when necessa...
