Re: JD450C third head gasket This is getting old

They don't want to move easily. Mine were a regular tug O war too. I am sure you probably saw what I made to get the liners out. I have a drawer with several crawler specific tools in it now. Most custom made and a couple bought ones. I will probably never use them again. I better go knock...

Re: JD450C third head gasket This is getting old

Thanks guys.. I wish I did not have so much on my plate. I would like to get after the brakes and check the steering clutches. I see in the notes from two owners ago had issues adjusting the left brake. Probably issues in there. But the crawler just purrs and starts instantly. I will do some work wi...

Re: JD450C third head gasket This is getting old

I finally got to use my crawler after a full winter of rebuilding everything forward of the key switch. The motor did not even get a full revolution before firing off. It purrs and is amazing compared to what it used to do. After a pretty disappointing experience (again) with Stewart Warner I can sa...

Re: JD450C third head gasket This is getting old

Well I wanted to post a follow up. My Stewart Warner gauges have failed. The IGN post was grounding out to the dash and only when the terminal nut was tight. That kept me busy for a bit to find that. With yet another set of gauges with crooked faces crimped in position, I decided that I am done with...

Re: Looking for 450 tool tray pictures or measurements

So Tim (Timmtnman) sends me a picture of his old tool tray and the new one I sent him. Honestly I think he could have gotten a few more years out of his old one.  https://hosting.photobucket.com/images/v201/Kaiserjeeps/20200429_145419.jpg?width=1920&height=1080&fit=bounds The rust...

Re: Looking for 450 tool tray pictures or measurements

Thanks Tim, Yes I think as long as they are kept painted and essentially sealed, they should last a good while. I would almost consider a 3/32 or 1/8 thick sheet of neoprene under the battery. Maybe even tool drawer liner with an open weave to breathe. Random thoughts to try and preserve.... Anyway,...

Re: Looking for 450 tool tray pictures or measurements

Hi Todd, I made this tray yesterday. https://hosting.photobucket.com/images/v201/Kaiserjeeps/DSCF6633.jpg?width=1920&height=1080&fit=bounds It is one of 4 for Timmtnman. Some things to note. Original trays are 14GA and the one you see is 16GA which was OK'ed by Tim. I have yet to go get a half sheet...

Re: Looking for 450 tool tray pictures or measurements

Thank you Tim! Glad to hear it. Been busy building another jeep truck. I had not checked in here for a bit. I will get going on the battery tray's very soon. I pulled mine out of my 450C and there was not enough left to even measure. So Thanks for sending me yours. Looks like I need to run back to t...

Re: 450 operators manual, anyone?

I am about to replace my sender. I just had a complete set of new Stewart Warner Heavy Duty series gauges fail by shorting to ground. I have a compete set of new Isspro sealed gauges going in. The sender is at the bottom of the case mounted in a casting on the side of the trans case. I would say it ...

Re: Looking for 450 tool tray pictures or measurements

Very good to hear Bruce. Glad a solution was able to be found. It was fun doing the vandalism covers and these tool trays. Thanks to everyone that ordered one and a big thanks to you guys that helped me with making it happen by sending me the OEM stuff. If any issues ever pop up for anyone that orde...

Re: Looking for 450 tool tray pictures or measurements

Ok, I am almost done making the parts for Btown and Timmtnman. Once the paint dries (not painted yet) in a week or so, I will send them. I am going to put a stop on any more of this work from the covid 19 issues. It is hitting our area. I intend to put these kits on ebay later this summer. There wil...

Hi,

Time for me to point out my tag line! :P

Stan
Ha ha, a man of great wisdom! I have been cleaning the living heck out of my shop the last three days. I have a pretty big box of parts both new and used from this build. I bet that box is worth a lot of money.

Re: Looking for 450 tool tray pictures or measurements

Thank you Bruce. I appreciate it. My power is back on. The crews here are pretty amazing. I have another day cleaning the shop. I plan on getting your stuff done right after. I am slow but if I don't clean up now, I will never find anything later. :)
I had a whole winter to misplace stuff.
