I don't think the spring should come out unless you compress it or it's wore out. Mine when new was compressed several inches to even fit in the holder. If you can get the rod out of the spring you shouldn't need to remove the spring.

Welcome to the boards. While I cannot say for sure on your 455E on my 450C you need to get the loader up. Once you get the loader up you'll want to cut some angle, I used 4" to block the loader so it cannot come down and crush you. You put them on top of the extended cylinders and they act like lock...

More than likely the tube is ruined as well as the piston but like they said you'll need to post pictures and probably tear into to find out. Normally the adjuster comes as a set when purchased aftermarket.

Did your hard line have a junction about half way back?

Maybe someone had already worked on mine but the front half came off very easy.

I removed mine from the split about half way back to the front by removing the nose and the belly pan. I replaced it with flexible.

I used a long crowbar to wedge the end of the spring up into the frame and a 3/4" impact to unscrew the rod. I had to stop several times and make adjustments to get back into the correct place as it was getting tight.

How did you compress the adjuster? The first time mine threw the track I used an 8' pry bar to compress it ( or I thought i had). Once I used the bucket of the loader and a cut stick of firewood I was able to get another 3" out of the adjuster and that gave me the slack I needed to get it back on. T...

I'm with the busted governor ring (" mouse turds") too. I would however check the fuel tank first sense it's so easy to make sure you're getting good flow out of it.

I wish I could find a scarifier for my "c", I'd trade Stan for one and kick in cash!

I've never found one off the machine for sale and asked several people selling them on machines to separate and they always say no.

I have read on several threads throughout the years that yes, the hoses have to be connected together when the hoe is not installed or it will bog the motor and burn out the pump. I wish I could be of more help but I do not have a hoe.

Good luck.

Welcome to the boards. You've just experienced your first level of the love hate relation that old crawlers bring.... Currently I love my loader (it's been sitting most of the winter), I'm about to pull the injection pump to have it rebuilt and I'm pretty sure I'll be hating on it along the way.... ...

12 years newer, wet clutches, and more HP I would go with the 450C. It could have a failing main clutch, that sometimes makes it hard to change gears and then it works great in HLR section. I looked at a machine once that it had to be turned off to switch between 1-2-3-4...

Just my opinion though.
