Neil, Thanks for your response. I found my error! I didn't install the gasket that goes under the filter mount head! I had installed the two gaskets that go on the top and bottom of the filters themselves, but not the ones that go in the head unit. The filters were so tight to the head that the fuel...

Starter removal on 450B
Anyone know if I need to pull the engine to remove the starter, or is there a way to get to the nuts without pulling it?

Looking for fuel shutoff switch for my 450B
I'm installing a new wiring harness in my 450B and there's a long lead for the fuel shutoff switch. Any ideas as to where this is? I suspect I don't have one.

450B dash pic needed!
Hi folks. I'm restoring an old dash panel on my 450B - new wiring harness, gauges, etc. The problem is, I tore it all out and forgot to note where each of the gauges should be. Oops! The tach is easy since it's the biggest, but the others are all the same size. Can anyone please post a 450B ...

Bingo!
I think your tach cable will go in to the upper right rear corner of the engine bell housing. Right hand side as you sit in the seat. It will be straight up from the starter and kind of in behind the oil pressure sending unit. It will install in the vertical position. Thanks Leonard! I found it. Lo...

How do I connect this ignition switch!
I'm an Electrical Engineer and I've never seen this type of terminal before. Can someone please tell me how this connects to the wiring harness? I bought the wiring harness for the switch and its terminals look a LITTLE BIT like a female bullet connector, but split and bell shaped. I'm stumped. http...

Still Confused
Appreciate your help jt, but I'm still confused. Are you talking about the fuel injection pump? If so, where, in relation to the fuel intake line is the connection point. Is there a picture in some manual that you can point me to? I've looked in the OM, the Service Manual, and the Parts Manual, and ...

Another Q
Okay, thanks. Also, I bought a new tach and cable, but I'm not sure where the tach cable connects to the engine. Can you steer me there?
Thanks,
Les

Hey folks, I just bought a 1971 JD 450B in fairly decent shape. This is my first dozer (or anything big and yellow for that matter) and I have a great deal to learn. I'm currently in Cleveland, North Carolina, on 20 acres. The pastures need some dozer work since the previous occupants of the place t...
