440 project...continues
So I moved into the new house with a garage of my own (wich is also a project!) and got some work done. I moved engine and tranny along with other parts to my new place. 10 hours ride back and forth. http://i1235.photobucket.com/albums/ff437/440ironpopper/P7020510.jpg transmission and engine in piec...

I know where there is one. Located Quebec, Canada. I saw it by myself. Looks good and works. The man who has this is an ex john deere mechanic, 25 + years in crawlers most of times. I posted a pic on this link:

Do these engines have precombustion chambers like the old Cat's? I guess pencil type injectors too. Engines of this era shure smokes white until the temperature rises and combustion is good. Injection pressures today are insane. If you crack a line you can get hurt and the line has to be changed (co...

My concern is more about the lubricating effect of the different fuels for the injection parts. Fuel lubricates, protects injection parts and makes the piston going. Not just piston going. After 1 year sitting, fuel degrades at a fast rate. Just think about your lawn mower that burps at the first jo...

I asked that question to a ultramar refinery guy where I go for work from time to time. Diesel fuels like #1 and #2 used in vehicles and machinery are ok with todays norms of pollution. Coloured fuel, (the pink one) stands for stationary engines like genset, compressors, chippers... Cheaper in price...

My all time favorite sellers line is "Doesn't steer on one side, just needs and adjustment". If that is the case, why don't you adjust it, and advertise it as steers nice. Lavoy Oh Yeah. Or : it has been sitting for a while. The right side does not steer really good FOR NOW. Clutch will ''Place its...

Thanks for the info. I tought there was a similar color in Caterpillar paint because I can have it at a lower cost. The orange touch in this old construction yellow makes a very good look on old crawlers. Deere is hard on price for this paint. Maybe I can buy one expensive can for sample and have it...

I suggest that the only next move of the crawler would head strait in the garage. I would check if the axle washer (behind the small inner cover) is tight. I had a bad axle bearing lately. The axle came loose. Bearing Rollers went between gears. Result: Everything is Broken. Once you pull the final,...

Various parts 420 final case, 1010 engine and tranny
Hi, While digging for parts, I found this man with a yard quite occupied with john deere crawlers parts. He don't know nothing about internet. He's 65 and wants to clear his yard. I tought it could be good for some of the members here. It would be a crime to send that to the scrap yard. I post that ...
