Re: JD 350 vs 1010

I think the rollers can be made to work and if the sprockets rings are welded on the chains will work. Jim and/or Lavoy will know all about this subject.

Re: Saving transmission oil?

Seem like 15/40 is too heavy for hydraulics and wouldn't stand the heat either. Although, diesel engines , I think, put more pressure on the oil because of the higher compression which would probably put more pressure at the bearings. The more pressure---the more heat too. Does that make sense?

15/40 is a diesel engine weight oil.

Re: Starter

Try going to your local rebuilder to see if he can solve the problem correctly, before you end up stranded far from home in a mud hole and the starter is failing you. You could also check with Lavoy. (Owner of this site.)

Re: Belly Pan removal

Can't you just torch off the belly pan bolts? If so, remove the nuts and their cages, weld new nuts back in the same place, and use new bolts when replacing the pan.

Re: JD 440IC water in the engine

Take the oil pan off, remove the rod bearing caps, push the free piston out, rotate the crank away from the stuck piston, then try to free the stuck piston.Once you get both pistons out, remove the ridge at the top of the cylinders, hone the cylinders, install new rings, bearings and etc. Kind of a ...

Re: 10-10 Crawler loader

The Detroit and the gassers are the same bellhousing pattern, and starter issue is the same as well. There were a lot of 1010 crawler and even more wheel tractors made, not including swathers, balers, stationary power units, etc, so finding a good used or core engine is not really an issue. Lavoy L...

Re: 440 crawel engine running.

Sounds like it's running on both cylinder but may have a fuel problem. Seems to have a slight gallop or surge. (rpm up and down) I don't remember what adjustments the carb has on it but I'd try to richen the mixture. Possibly water in the fuel.(try dry gas-can't hurt)

Re: 350B Reverser will not go in forward

It currently will move the drive train in reverse and drive train stops when in neutral. The clutch will also stop it when in reverse. But when shifted into forward position the drive train will not move in the forward direction. Hope this clarifies this issue. Thanks Chester The "clutch", when dep...

Re: 350B Reverser will not go in forward

Your explanation of what's going on kinda lost me. Does it move in reverse as it should? Does it move forward only when you rev it up?

I think LEONARDT has said it all. If I were you, and could afford it, I'd get the complete rebuild kit for it which includes everything you'll need for the head.

Re: Unloading the 1010 loader from the trailer

I like to use a piece of angle iron on the lift cylinder. Lift the bucket up to where you want it, then place the angle iron on top of the lift piston. Let the bucket down until the iron is tight against the lift cylinder and holding the weight of the bucket. I put the angle iron on both sides of th...

Seems like a brush hog would do the same job better and cheaper. A lot of good used ones around. Just my opinion!!!!
