The crossbar issues are repairable with a moderate ammount of work and welding. The loosness on the other members is a different animal. It really depends if the machine was run loose or not. If it was run long enough it can end up cracking or damaging the cases, which aren't so easy to fix.

I'm not 100% convinced that any old crawler is capable of NOT being an money pit  Anyways a few quick things to look at would be the crossbars. Pay close attention to where they attach to the track frames, and the condition of the bars themselves. The rear one sits in a saddle per say and may s...

Could the 3252 be a 3152? That would make sense. Also, the later 343297 should be the engine serial number. I'm pretty sure thats late enough to be a 152 in an early 350C.

You can still buy the isolater from Deere (or perhaps Lavoy?), kinda expensive, but at least they still offer it. You need to check the condition of the friction material on the front side of the disc (that butts up to the flywheel). If the tanks on the radiator are decent, you can send your radiato...

The question you need to ask yourself is this, " Where do I stop?" Personally, unless you find unusual play or spine wear on the reversers input shaft, I'd pull the engine, change the reverser input shaft seal and the o-ring between the pump and the front cover and leave the reverser intact. If some...

Could the loader be a Henry? Almost looks identical to the one on dads's 420. The only thing that looks different are the bucket links (cranks?) It would appear that they have been repaired though.

Take a look here

Please, please ,please STOP using the machine, fix your leak!!! Your reverser is running out of oil, it is incredibly bad for the reverser to run out of oil. Pull up your floorpans, drop the belly pan, clean up all the dirt so you can see whats going on and then find your leak. There are 4 steel tub...

Hi I think there should be 2 bolts on each side of the machine. They are positioned diagonally apart from one another on each side. My understanding is that they help align the crossbar caps to each other and to receive the crossbar. I'm sure you've noticed the raised part of the bolt fits much tigh...

Just an FYI, I got a chance to look at one of my machines today, the serial number should be on the right side of the top of the transmission case.

Let us know what you find

The engine should have it's own tag above the starter motor on the right side. What makes you believe the machine is a 1981? If its an 81 then its a 350C. On the 350C machines the serial tags are on the front of the battery box, not down near the gearshift like on the straight 350s. Worst case scena...

Hello and welcome to the forum. First things first, if you haven't already, get yourself a service manual, they are a must to have. Some good news, you really don't need to pull your reverser apart from the transmission. If your output shaft seal is leaking, there should be a weep hole between the r...

The 450 is wider ,not by much ,but still I'm pretty sure the 350s wont fit. The 350s use a 3100 ripper, the 450s is a 3110. I think the masts and stuff will fit, but since the 450 shifts the brackets out farther the ripper frame itself gets wider.

You pretty much hit the nail on the head. Many aftermarket rollers come assembled with the shaft. Check your service manual for the how far to push the shaft in, there is a measurement from the seal surface on the bracket to the end of the shaft.

That's a 450 (the battery box is either an early B or a straight 450). And after what Ken has said, I'd be inclined to agree with him that its a straight 450

Just my 2 cents, and it might sound a bit like what everyone else is saying. Rebuild what you have, you have to go in that far to swap out the transmission anyway. As long as you case isn't bad you can darn near get everything you need. That way you know exactly what you have when you're done. Most o...
