Re: 40c clutch ajusted but
Welcome to the board. I'm surprised someone hasn't responded on any thing for you yet. I'll ask a few questions for background that might stir other responses for you. It sounds like you have some things out of place or way out of adjustment. Do you have the 40 service manual # SM2013 and a copy of ...

Re: Blown fuze
From your description I think your front lights use a bulb like a 1133. You could have a problem in the socket(s) of the old lights. I have seen pigtails short inside lamp sockets. A wire could be pinched or the insulation chafed through somewhere along the way and it can be hard to find. It looks l...

Re: Jd350 track tensioners
The large coupling with the plug on at least some of those aftermarket adjusters is protection for the grease fitting and relief screw. Remove the plug and I expect you will find the fitting under it. On your original one if the grease appears to be coming out under the fitting, check for a crack or...

Re: shims for reverser
Shim T14587T became T14587. T14587 is .406" ID, .748" OD, .024" thick and material shows as steel. Looks like they may still be available at about $13.50 each. However, the online parts catalog shows M3048T as the current part number, with this note: "REMARKS (SUB FOR T14587, THIS APPLICATION)". M30...

What part number are you looking for? I'll check to see if the dimensions show when I check your number.

Re: root rake for jd440ic
Here are a couple in OH or PA from a quick search. I don't know that they will be cost competitive with the one you found, most of theirs appear heavier built. Some web searching and checking around, you might find a small fab shop that might build one for you. USA Attachments (NC) builds them. Thei...

Re: Help removing/dismantling a 450C starter
It has been a while since I had one apart but I took a look at the parts catalog to refresh my memory. Looking at the parts catalog it appears like you might disassemble the starter in place, but I don't know how much easier that will end up being. There should be a center bearing support plate that...

Re: root rake for jd440ic
Hi dtoots1, I have been watching for one, as a would be nice to have attachment, but don't think I will spring for a new one. I think that pin on type like you posted, would be more user friendly for small jobs. There are a number of outfits making that type, including a couple in the Ohio and PA ar...

Re: John Deere 450 dozer
Welcome to the board. Coolant getting into the pan slowly would make me wonder about the seals on the sleeves. I would sooner expect a head gasket or cracked head to be putting pressure into the cooling system and pushing coolant out the radiator, not very slowly getting into the pan. Then there is ...

Re: Starter p/n for an '81 450C, need some help please
The on line John Deere parts catalogs show the current replacement starter for both the 450C and 450E as part number SE501428. You should check and confirm this for yourself.

Re: 440 IC Any available how too videos.
I don't know of a video, but there might be. If the right steering lever moves, adjustment could be way off or the bearing self destructed. If steering lever doesn't move something may be rusted/seized in the linkage. The right side steering clutch discs might be rusted together. Hard to tell what j...

Re: Purchase questions
Page 37, Internal pin and bushing wear (4 links), is where they tell about measuring from/to the pin edges. Yes, you would have to shut it off, there is no disconnect on many winch shafts. There may have been some with disconnects, but not common as I understand it. The disconnect would have to be a...

Re: Purchase questions
Welcome to the board. The measurement is normally taken from the front edge of the 1st pin to the front edge of the 5th pin. So yes, center to center would be the same. It is easier to use the pin edge than to try to find center. Machining marks on the ends of the pins, that might have shown center,...
