I finally got the cover off the controls, as I thought, the joystick mounts are all wallowed out at the pins. I might try to machine the hole larger and use a bushing/insert. Both pieces are worn pretty well good. What are the chances of these parts still being available? Might be a little pricey, b...

Looking thru a catalog from Surplus Center, I see a backhoe control valve setup. It has 6 spools with joysticks. It is already setup for outriggers. Do you think this could be setup to replace my worn unit?

Back hoe controls

I recently bought a mid 60s 450 loader equipped with the detachable backhoe. The hoe itself is in good shape, except for the controls. They are worn & wobbly, with way too much slop to operate efficiently. Are there pieces/parts available to repair/replace, or do I have to make my own? Also, what en...

So there is such an animal. Are the wet clutches more durable/lasting than the dry version. I would assume they are more trouble when rebuilding.

350 wide track dozer

I have access to a 350 with a 6-way blade & 33" tracks. The machine hasn't moved in 4 years. The owner advises the engine starts/runs fine. I questioned the steering clutch conditions being the machine has sat outside/uncovered. I asked about the steering clutches getting wet & rusty. Owner went on ...

Looking for parts

I'm not sure what they are called, but on the inside of the track assembly, they are 3/4" bolts that go into hardened "T" shaped flanged spacer. The flange is 1 3/4" dia. It looks like there are several of these assemblies. It appears these spacers are in a "shear" application. Two of these 3/4" bol...

It appears you used roll pins. How much clearance did you allow & in which part does the pin pivot?

What is the adjustable linkage piece called? Mine has the ball/socket unit that is easily replaced, if I can find one. That's for the info. I too, am very new to the JD crawler family.

Well, maybe between the two of us, we can find a solution. There has to more worn out units in service needing attention. I have the same problem. Too much or too little travel on the bucket, & no real control. I have a lathe which I can use to make the parts, but I'm not really enthused about spend...

FEL CONTROLS

The FEL control linkage on my 350 is pretty sloppy. Aside from trying to make bushings & such, is there an source to purchase new pieces/parts, or even a complete unit?

350 reverser

I have only owned my 350 for about a year or so. I have used it for clearing trees & minor dirt moving. It has a factory mounted winch also. I am stymied as to what the reverser does. It has the "shuttle shift" lever on the left of the seat, which has forward/reverse, so why another reverse activate...

Well, it looks like I won't be doing the backhoe thing. It will be easier/safer/cost effective to buy a used rubber tired hoe. It will be only used as a convenience tool, not something I use everyday. I will be posting another question shortly, in reference to the reverser & how to use it. Thank you...

350 backhoe attachment

I am contemplating getting a backhoe attachment for my 350 loader. How well do they work vs a rubber tired backhoe? I have a small hobby farm that I could really use one. How available are they? How hard to install. My 350 has a winch mounted on it now.
