Re: JD 450C no crank
Check the wire’s that went to the safety switch. They may have been connected together. Could have a bad connection there.

Re: where does the spark go?
Or have the distributor in 180 out. Ether one would put the rotor on the wrong side. Do the check Jim B suggested.

Re: where does the spark go?
northwoodsguide Is there any chance you have the spark plug wires reversed. If you hook one of the spark plugs up to the coil it will fire at the top of the compression stroke and at the top of the exhaust stroke. If the spark plug wires are reversed ( 180 degree’s out ) both cylinders will be firin...

Re: 2010 loss of power
The pulsing fuel at the cover would be the charge pump pumping.

Re: 2010 loss of power
The engine will still run if the check valve is held open.
If it is plugged with debris it will equalize the case pressure with the charge pump pressure and stop the flow of fuel to the pump. You should be able to blow thru the valve one way and not the other.

Re: 2010 loss of power
Remove the return line from the injection pump. Remove the fitting that screws into the pump cover. The fitting will have a check valve in it. Check to see if it is plugged with little black chunks (mouse turds). If the check valve is plugged the injection pump will need repaired.

Re: 440ICD Track shoes on backwards
Thanks Lavoy and Stan Since I first posted this I looked in the shop manual. The manual agrees with what Lavoy says about the shoes. It also shows the chains on the direction they are on now. Stan- thanks for the Dresser link very good info and answered some of my other questions. The chains on it n...

Lavoy
Is that like the nice way of telling me that I need to stop whining and just rotate the shoes.

440ICD Track shoes on backwards
I bought a 440ICD 602 outside dozer earlier this summer. The previous owner had replaced the track shoes and chains with some with better chains from a 440IC 831 track loader. The master pins had been replaced with 1” bolts. I ordered new master pins from Lavoy and installed them. After I got it bac...

Re: 350c thrown track
Heating the housing / cylinder may help. 150-200 degrees.
Don’t over heat it.

iowahill1 Master pin and clip look like the picture below. You could jack the machine up and put 6x6 blocks under the tracks. Leave a space below the master pin big enough to remove the track shoe. http://jdcrawlers.lcent.com:8000/johndeere/albums/userpics/10056/75487BB9-2BDD-4BDA-8609-029FAF3682BA....

This worked well on the 350 chains on my 440. It is an OTC ball joint press.

Re: 350c running warm
If the thermostat is still closed (engine not at operating temp) check the block where the thermostat housing bolts on.

Re: 350c running warm
Take a reading at the thermostat housing-where the coolant leaves the engine to go to the radiator.
That will be the engine temp. Clean the the dirt and oil off.
You can take a reading from the top and bottom tank on the radiator to get an idea how the radiator is working.
