This set up is not the one pictured in my manual. What's the adjustment procedure for this set up?
Okay, can't get the pic to transfer to the forum. What am I not doing right. It's on my desktop, is there trick to posting it here?

Re: button head grease gun couplers
Okay, now I understand what you mean. I thought you meant there was a bolt in place of the button head fitting. The particular coupler I've got still won't fit the slot between the bosses. I'm going to have to chuck it up and cut some relief into the coupler.
Thanks.
Thanks.

Re: button head grease gun couplers
That's the problem Stan- the upper idler. I have no bolt to remove, the face is just too big to slide into the cast boss and fit.
Lavoy, I got what the local dealer had, I'm not sure it's meant for the 1010, could be for a 450 for all I know.

button head grease gun couplers
Anyone care to recommend a good coupler for the button head fittings on my 1010? The one I got from my Deere dealer is too big to fit some fittings. Before I take the lathe to it, I thought I might see if there's a pre-made alternative someone knows for sure will work.

Re: 40/420 head
Well I was wrong. I can't find a crack in the head anywhere. Not that I can see with the nekked eyeball anyway. What I did find is that the seat for the exhaust valve on #2 is non-existent! There is nothing but a faint suggestion of a partial ring where the valve seat should have been, but that's it...

40/420 head
Pretty sure I've got a cracked head on the 420. Had the same thing on the 40. Is this a fairly common issue? Seems odd lightning would strike twice for me.

Re: 420 starter
I eventually found some rebuilt starters. Had to look under 430 to find them and then the results fro the 420 came too. Weird. At this point I'm just going to try to get a starter drive. I may rebuild it when it warms up, or may buy a rebuilt. I just need to move wood now.

420 starter
Managed to bust the big spring in the starter. I see there are 2 options for a replacement set up- one with the traditional style assembly and one "improved" unit that is sort of self contained. Is one better than the other? The starter itself is rough. I was looking for a rebuilt but I haven't foun...

Re: Oh crap!
FWIW- Yup, the oil pump was full of ice. Sheared the pin on the drive gear. I really don't see how the water got in there, but I guess I'd better do a better job covering it when I have to leave it out in the future. This did give me a chance to repair and straighten out the pickup screen. Someone e...

Oh crap!
420 gas crawler. Was real cold here and I needed to move some snow. Checked the oil. It was water contaminated. Ran it up to the garage and changed the oil, had to order a filter. When the filter got here I changed it and cleaned the oil pressure gauge glass. No pressure. Checked elsewhere and found...
