Are you sure the glow plugs are working? The 1010 and 2010 diesels pretty much need working glow plugs to start even in warmer weather.

Here are some threads for the 450G; people generally like them I think. The guys in these threads (Digitup2, Jason, etc.) are commercial users so their opinion is valuable. http://www.jdcrawlers.com/messageboard/viewtopic.php?t=10003&highlight=450g http://www.jdcrawlers.com/messageboard/viewtopic.ph...

I agree with Leonard's experiences- although my experience with sealants has been more with cars and trucks than crawlers I go through the steps that Leonard described and have not had leaks occur except when oil contaminated the sealant as the part was assembled.

Hi Stan- With respect to manuals, 2010s are still like the older 2-cylinder crawlers in that the manuals are for the base crawler and there are separate manuals specific to the loader or dozer attachments. There are similar manuals with different manual numbers for the 2010s because some are for the...

Have you tried contacting the John Deere bookstore about a German version?

I see now- hadn't seen the photos before. Yes probably need to go through the steering clutches.

I would also loosen the tracks some- they look so tight I was half expecting to see a photo of them flying off the undercarriage like a rubber band

I would recommend opening the steering clutch inspection covers and seeing what happens when you put in gear and when you pull the steering levers. These plates are just to the left and right of the seat base. Each cover is rectangular and attached with four bolts.

If I had the nose and radiator out, I would look at replacing the fan belts and checking the water pump pulley for excessive play, at a minimum. it probably wouldn't be a bad time to replace radiator hoses and the thermostat either.

Remember to bring up her observations when you want to buy another or newer crawler in the future and she pushes back on the idea. ;)
