Yea there tuff. I was talking to guy here at work that had a 420 and traded it for a D4 cat, he said he wished he had his 420 back. He said the 420 would do about anything the D4 would do (given enough time) but the 420 was more manuverable and a lot easier to work on.

I was using my 420 yesterday evening and it was a lot of fun. I pushed some ditches in road where I had fed cattle all winter, found out big rocks will rock your world. Shoved out 3 hedge apple trees about 6" in diameter. Lot of fun I'm starting to think the 2 years of work and several thousand doll...

I own a 420JDw/#62 blade. I was using it today and one of the hydraulic cylinder rod gland started leaking, probably because the shaft is pitted, does John Deere or you guys still have rod glands and piston seals?
I would also like to know if rods are available?

I was going to angle my blade and ran into a pin, that is vertical up next to the device that lets the blade rotate, that won't budge. I was wondering how this vertical pin is retained, with threads,set screw or years of oxidation?

I just did get done rebuilding a 420C. I also ordered a set of tracks from Wilcox Farms. I changed the cleats out and noticed my old set is 3 cleats shorter. Both sets fit the dozer,so I assume someone has taken lenghths out so it would tighten up. Is this method of repair acceptable or is this tota...
