Those little lines are just a swedge fit. They're pretty stiff. Mine were changed bysliding the quill off the side of the transmission.( I know that isn't what you want to hear!) Try to wiggle them or gently pry on them and see if they will cooperate, I don't think there is much room in there when e...

Tthe seal leaking might be just an old seal, or the output shaft bearing may be moving too much for the seal to compensate. And you're spot on about how to get to it, no easy way other then diving in deep. The rear of the reverser housing should have a weep hole almost identical to the one in the en...

As had been stated, if your output seal of the reverser is leaking it should show up in the hole/cotter pin beneath the joint between the reverser and transmission. The transmission has an input shaft seal, so it would have to push past that to enter at that point. It sounds like you've already foun...

Gotta agree with Lavoy that the main reason Deere stopped 350 production is due to the increased capabilities of skid steers. They were always so clunky till the late 80's/early 90's. With all the attachments available they are hard to compete with in versatility. Deere and Cat even markets the heav...

Stan A 3100 ripper (scarifier  ) would be easier to locate whether it is already mounted on a machine or loose. Mind you, not all dozers can mount a ripper. The dozers attachment mounts are part of the blade lift frames, there are frames that have the mounting pads and ones that do not, each ha...

Cutting edge can answer for himself, but I'm pretty sure he has a D. Off topic, but you would be supprised how similar a D's isolator sounds to an early C machine. That being said, since he is checking his fan belt, fan and alternator I guessed his noise is in the front of the machine, not near the ...

Might not be a bad idea to take a closer look at your pump coupling. My loader made a similar noise (I think!) . It should be a splined coupling, there are 2 different sizes depending on what size pump you have. Depending on your s/n (or if the coupling has been replaced) the coupling is held in pla...

Try not to get too frustrated! I seriously wonder if anyone at DTAC has even knows what a 350 is let alone has worked on one. I've heard some horror stories from some of my buddies that work at a construction dealer nearby in their dealings with DTAC, some of the lines about "obviously you're doing ...

Jarhead I think i agree with that for the most part. The silicates are used to form a layer on components to protect them from cavitation/corrosion etc. the only negative is that yes, they can become lightly abrasive once they begin to dropout of the coolant, thats the main reason those coolants req...

Just a few FYIs on the Cat ELC. ELC is factory filled on CAT stuff now, SCAs (and many other parameters) are still monitored, typically by a sampling (or SOS) service. They still sell an SCA booster, which is usually needed around 5000hrs or so. The max life on the coolant is 12000hrs. One of the mo...

First question: Do you have a parts book? The reason I ask is because it has a very nice serial tag breakdown in the front of the book for the machine, engine and attachments. Might help your confusion here. the plate on the engine above starter reads 3152DT 06 483867T 3152 is the model of engine, 4...

If liner heights are off, it depends which way they are off. The best thing to do if something is out of spec is to see if the counterbore in the block is the correct depth or if the liner thickness is correct. A height that is too low can be fixed by placing shims under the liner. A height that is ...

Be sure next time you have your head off to check your liner protrusion. Should be checked in several places around each liner. You need to clamp the liners down with some bolts/washers. Specs are in your manual (usually .001-.004"), but the head gasket will never seal properly if a liner height is ...
