Re: 420c Trans/reverser seal

Have you sent Lavoy a direct email (postmaster@jdcrawlers.com) or called him (701-361-1006) during central time zone business hours? I know he has posted before he has parts for them. He has also posted, in the past, he doesn't always catch things people mention in posts or get PMs, so he asked for ...

Re: 1965 straight JD crawler help

Does the hydraulic lift on the back of yours look similar to this one? You might have just the beam without the shanks(teeth). You should post a couple photos showing your complete machine

Re: 1965 straight JD crawler help

Yes, people put kits in them themselves. However I don't believe they have the wear limits and specs to set them up by, nor proper equipment to calibrate them with. Depending on how far you have to go, your pump may need a Bristol bit or two, not torx bits. Some succeed, some end up breaking somethi...

Re: 1965 straight JD crawler help

You have it identified correctly. Machine serial number tag breakdown using the 350 Introduction from the JD parts Catalog: SN = serial number T = Tractor 4 = JD350 F = Crawler Dozer 3 = Diesel D = (Transmission) Sliding Gear with Reverser Serial number: 010120 (This number falls in the 1965 build r...

Re: 1965 straight JD crawler help

Welcome to the board. If you would post the model and serial number of your crawler it will be easier to help you, saying straight 1965 JD crawler, it could be a couple different ones. You should contact Lavoy (postmaster@jdcrawlers.com). He owns this site and his business of selling parts and repai...

Re: 1972 450B

We can't see it to know anything beyond what you post, 2k may be a good deal, maybe not. Have you verified the year by the serial number? Undercarriage is fine based on what? Looks good to you (We don't know how much undercarriage experience you have to make an eyeball judgement, not saying your jud...

Re: 1972 450B

I interpret what you are saying is the bare machine, blade off the ground, will move and turn on flat ground. It could be many things, real diagnosis is required to pin point the issue. Some things are: out of adjustment or bad engine clutch, linkages for reverser out of adjustment, low pressure in ...

Re: 450e cab

Please define cab, it can mean different things to different people. Are you talking a fully enclosed hard panel/windows EROPS cab, or a ROPS with screens as you were indicating interest in, in a previous post? The 450E is a flat deck operator's platform, the 450C is not. I may be wrong, but I have ...

Re: Seeking advice on replacing high pressure hydraulic line in a 450B

They use "Rotella" in many oil/fluid names. He is correct Shell Rotella HD Tractor Fluid meets J20C, I am assuming he is using the Tractor Fluid. When I searched Shell Rotella HD, the Tractor Fluid came up, not engine oil. https://shell-livedocs.com/data/published/en-US/7075ff70-f224-40e3-981d-ff35a...

Re: Seeking advice on replacing high pressure hydraulic line in a 450B

Just checking on what you are using for transmission and hydraulic oil. I think your 450B manual says to use 303 and that spec is way out of date. You need to use JD Hy-Gard or other UTHF meeting John Deere's J20C spec. If you don't know the history, John Deere doesn't make 303 any more as it used s...

Re: jd300 backhoe diesel

If it's running now I wouldn't worry about the injection pump much. If it has been setting a long time there is the risk of parts in the IP being stuck which would require a rebuild. Remember you will hear about the few having problems, not the hundreds or thousands running with no problems.

Re: jd300 backhoe diesel

Hi dtoots1, A straight 300 would be in the 1965-1973 range. The 3 cylinder 152 diesel was used in the straight 350s and other tractors/equipment. Parts for the engine should be available along with most drive train parts. I believe that vintage tractor shared a number of the Ag tractor parts, so the...
