that clicking sound usually means that brake band is WAY out of adjustment
get the book for instructions Lavoy probably has them

they closed our local John Deere dealer a couple months ago after 84 years in the same location. so don't know exactly where the next dealer is around here

buterfly gone?

sounds to me like the noise was the carb butterfly being eaten or maybe just rattling around in the intake- time to pull the carb off for inspection ---
locktite the 2 screws into the shaft with BLUE locktite

if you only have an AC (buzz box) welder it will have to 7014 as 7018 is DC only if my old mind serves me correctly
