Re: 40C All fuel running on 75% diesel

Hi, There is a slight difference in the shape of the piston top in an all-fuel v a straight gas. But the main difference is the addition of shutters in front of the radiator to give higher running temps. You get to eyeball the gage to not let it get too cold. These were thermosiphon up till the 420,...

Re: 40C All fuel running on 75% diesel

Gas, Naptha, kerosene, No1 fuel oil, Diesel. What they did was open a valve to each pipe in turn when the temp stea...

Re: Potential 420c Purchase

Hi,

That is my thinking as well. So I would count on all the 6v bits being in trouble by now....

Re: Potential 420c Purchase

Hi, Easy. Hook up meter to battery and read voltage. Should be about 12.5 v. Start machine. Voltage drops from load then rise up to around 13.8 v. If not, then you know it isn't charging. The ignition issue may well be there is no resistor added into the line feeding the coil. That would make the co...

Re: engine oil for 1958 jd 440 ic

Hi,

I use 10w30 in my 2-cylinders. Easier cranking for the 6v systems. Especially in cold weather.

Re: 1010c Sprocket Question

Hi,

Do you have the opposite track off the ground so it can spin? Crawlers have no differential so both sides are locked together. You can block the opposite side steering stick back to release that clutch pack.

Re: 350 b reverser leak

Hi,

Ah. I see. This thread goes back to 2018. I had managed to forget that. Heck, I can hardly remember what I did last week.... So, call me confused. And, I just read it from the beginning and I'm even more confused....

Hi,

Just a point here. 350B steering clutches are dry. So, you have a 350C and not a B?
