Gil, I checked for play when I had the final drives off but I didn't try it again after I put the sprokets on. Good thing to check but I hope it's not that! I'll jack it up, loosen the track tensioner and see if there's any play. Do you know if I can pull the sproket off without breaking the chain? ...

440 Sprocket Spacer ?
Can anyone give me some undercarrige advice? I replaced my rear sprockets, four rollers including the rear roller on each side, one of the front idlers and put on a set of tracks with almost new pins and bushings. When I was putting it together I noticed that the rear sprokets were close to the insi...

Compression for a 440IC
I measured the compression on my crawler and got 125 and 130 psi. Does anyone know what the compression is supposed to be? Thanks, Roger

440IC Distributor Questions
Hi, the shaft on my D-R 1112571 distributor is so worn that it won't open the points when they go over the small lobe unless I push the shaft in that direction. My parts manual doesn't show a part number for the bushing but the service manual shows a bronze bushing. Does anyone know where I could fi...

Hi, just been there, just did that, last week as a matter of fact. All of the rebuild kits that I found, including the one that I bought, didn't have the load adjusing set either. Lavoy gave me the name of Robert's Carburetor Repair, www.robertscarbrepair.com, who carry this and a number of other ca...

Phantom Idle Jet
I have a question regarding the idle jet on a TSX-756 carburetor. I'm in the process of rebuilding the carburetor on my early 440IC and have had to pick up a second TSX-756 in order to get enough good parts to build one good one. When I took them both apart I found that neither of them have an idle ...

Lavoy, do you have any tricks for removing the economiser jet and the nozzle? I've kept them soaked with Kroil for 3 days and I can't get them to budge. I'm hesitant to use heat or any more brute force for fear of damaging them. Also, the idle jet is missing and the threads in the body are rusted. I...

Dave and Chuck, Thanks for your replies. It sounds like I have the right carburator even if it doesn't work. I took mine apart and found that its missing the idle jet, probably one of the reasons that it doesn't idle well, and the rebulid kit that I bought doesn't come with any of the replacement je...

Carb for 440IC
Does anyone know if a TSX-756 is the right carb for an early 440IC? I have SM-2024 but the 440 isn't listed. Is there another reference that identifies which carbs go with the 440IC? Thanks, Roger

Hi, does anyone know where I might find a 3/4" drive crow foot wrench for the track adjusters (2-1/4") and a grease gun fitting for the button fittings on the rollers? Thanks, Roger

What Battery for a 440IC
Hi, does anyone know the amp-hour specification and dimensions for a 440IC? I have a standard 6 volt set up but when I bought the crawler it didn't have a battery. Thanks, Roger
