Get yourself a stud remover that attaches to your ratchet wrench. Heat the bolt cherry red, let it cool some and then use the stud remover. This worked great for me when I snapped off ALL my bottom roller bolts.

If that does not work, then you can weld on a nut and try to remove it that way.

Let me add some more information. I went over to look at tuney's machine. Nice machine and in pretty good shape. The reverser is acting up. You can snap the level into the reverse position and the machine will move as intended. This indicates that the reverser is intact and not replaced by a simple ...

Check my posting on July15, 2006. I have some of the part numbers for Stewart Warner gauges. They carry a full line of gauges that will work for your machine. They will not have John Deere on the face but the prices are much better than JD prices. I purchased two new gauges and they are very nice.

With the 831 loader on the machine, adjusting this reverser clutches can be a real challenge. The front clutch is not too bad but I had to figure out how to make the adjustment using only one hand since I could not get both hands into the area. With practice you can make the adjustment on the front ...

Have you tried ALL other options such as penetrating oil (PB Blaster or Kroil) as well as using a good impact gun or a long pipe extension on a breaker bar? Most of those bolts can be accessed fairly well. If I recall the top inside bolt is difficult to get to and that is the one that caused me the ...

I agree those were the most difficult bolts on my machine. The proper tools are a must but in my case, even a new 1" impact gun did not get them out. I even tried an old fashion slugging wrench which can put a LOT of torque on bolts. No luck, so that is why I ended up cutting two bolts on one side. ...

440ICD

If you have an Industrial Deere dealer in your area they can likely repair it. I live in southeastern NY and our area dealer will service the machine (NorTrax). My guess is it will cost a lot to have a Deere dealer do the repair since they will find many things wrong once they get inside. It took me...

The 440ICD is a 12 volt positive ground system. Make sure you have it wired correctly and give it a try. As for the ring gear, that will be fun. Need to remove the engine and then you can get to the ring gear. Can pry off the old one and get another one (I got one from Lavoy). Pretty easy to replace...

Engine can be removed with the loader attached. You will have to remove the grill and radiator and then you can get the engine out. I had my engine out last year. Bucket was annoying but you can work around it without too much problem.

Lever pressure is not adjustable as far as I know. Pressure is established by the springs on the pressure plate of the clutch. You can adjust how far the levers move prior to engaging the clutch and this needs to be done correctly to get everything to work correctly.

The 831 User Manual has only a small schematic of the valve. The 831 Service Manual has an entire section on the valve and how to service it.
