Re: JD 350B boom locking bar

I just fabricated a lock bar today out of 3” angle iron (1/4” thick) and just used a grinder to cut to length. Therefore did not get perfect. With limited headroom I have the boom cylinders roughly level. Obviously the bar worked, but sitting here at home I started to wonder if there are any red fla...

Re: 350B Stalled. Fuel Issue?

Haven’t had time to use machine lately, but replaced the check valve with a new one. Started machine and ran smooth. Will use a bit this week to confirm. Also replaced one bad bleed screw. Sure spins on nice when your careful with the threads. New one has an actual oring, whereas the old one had a v...

Re: 350B Stalled. Fuel Issue?

I looked closer and it appears to be a glass ball and I can’t remove it. It moves a bit like against a spring. So that is the check ball. I will need to get a new check valve for it and see how it works. I will look at the vent tube more and look for the weld and get a better wire. I did see that th...

Re: 350B Stalled. Fuel Issue?

Success again. This time I’m sure the problem has been found. Did all the tests, I.e. saw voltage at the stop solenoid when key on and cranking. Open screws to timing window and saw some improvement. Couldn’t keep it running real well but certainly made a difference. Decided to loosen the return fue...

Re: 350B Stalled. Fuel Issue?

This is great info. Pretty sure my vent tube is plugged, but because I did loosen the cap, that is probably not the main problem. I also don’t have a strainer. I will focus on the injector pump and do the tests as given. Heading out this morning so will let you know how it goes. If IP is bad, then w...

Re: 350B Stalled. Fuel Issue?

Not sure where the vent tube is. I did try with the cap loose, to no avail. I was reading about leaving the primer lever in the down position. I’m sure I did that but I will double check. Should I try bleed at the injector pump? And is it worth checking the electric stop solenoid for voltage? Thanks...

Re: 350B Stalled. Fuel Issue?

Today, I could not get the 350 to run more than 3 seconds. Always starts up, but shuts off right away. I sure hope it is the transfer pump. Checked the bleed screws and did get a bit of air out of the second screw. Was able to prime fuel out. Did not make a difference. Before I started unit today I a...

Re: 350B Stalled. Fuel Issue?

Today I changed the oil and went to do some work with the machine. While driving through the field the unit would stall out several times. I persevered, because it would always start up after a few second wait. I checked the hand primer a few times and it was working now. At some point, within a hal...

Re: 350B Stalled. Fuel Issue?

Changed the two fuel filters today. Found one oring had not been installed. First bowl was very dirty. Manual primer did not work, even after jogging the engine multiple times. Therefore had to prime by cranking the engine. Followed procedure and bled first filter and then moved onto second bleeder....

Re: 350B Stalled. Fuel Issue?

Good answer. I won’t say I was lazy, cuz I read a lot. In fact before I logged in I had just reviewed the manual and found the procedure. Felt pretty comfortable going forward, but even my operating manual shows the new type of fuel filter that I don’t have and I have not located the priming lever y...

Re: 350B Stalled. Fuel Issue?

I’ll pick some up Monday. Poured in five gallons of fuel with Power Service conditioner. Did not try to operate as I was busy doing other things and it started to rain.

When I change filters, do I just bleed at filter? Do I crank to prime? Never done this.

Re: 350B Stalled. Fuel Issue?

It is a diesel. I have already changed transmission oil to Hygard. Did not do anything with sump screen. When I park the 350B in the garage for the winter I will start changing and checking all fluids. Plan to use JD filters. I have power steering as well. I already have a JD filter for when I chang...

350B Stalled. Fuel Issue?

Started my 350B today and it ran ok for about 10 seconds and then died. Tried again and same thing happened a few times. Checked fuel level and while low was not empty. Started again and finally it stayed running. Was not driving, but just using hydraulics and moving a few feet. This has never happe...

Re: 350B Final Drive Gearing

Good piece of history. I can really visualize that. I know I need a service manual, but can’t decide how/where to get one. Wondering if some are different with less info, or poor quality printing. I also see that I can get a digital copy straight from John Deere.

Re: 350B Final Drive Gearing

I’m starting to understand the undercarriage quite a bit more now. Had thrown the track a few years ago but never really knew why. Just thought it was loose. Today I had to use the loader for a bit to move a bucket full of soil a few hundred feet. Was going slowly in second gear and constantly adjus...
