Thank you for the pictures and write up. I'll be doing steering clutch work on my 2010 soon and your work here is just fantastic for me. On the trans temp sender, I gave up on the factory gauges and found at Kragen's a $15 coolant temp gauge that was a perfect fit in the dash and the sender screwed ...

Stopped my coolant leak to oil in 2010 Diesel with K-Seal

I thought I would share my success in stopping the coolant leak into my oil on my 2010 Diesel using a product called K-Seal in the coolant. I bought this 2010 with a fresh rebuild of the engine by the prior owner. I don't know his mechanical skill but I have about 20 hours on it now and it is runnin...

Just a couple of things that were giving similar issues on my 2010 diesel to check. White smoke - I got lots of it and still get some when it is cold and more when it is cold out. I found that there was no thermostat in the thing so it never was getting to the right coolant temp. I'd make sure your ...

Posted reply on the wrong subject. Sorry about that. Mine can be hard starting too. Here are some things that helped me. 1. Make sure all 4 glow plugs are working fully. If you have a clamp ammeter that is the easiest way, should be about 7 - 9 amps per plug as I recall. Even though you replaced the...

I'm a new owner/operator so take that for what it's worth. I have the same machine, 2010 Diesel HLR. Mine can be a hard shift too. Here is what I've worked out that seems to ease the gears in, maybe it will work. Make sure the HLR is locked in neutral. Push in the clutch and try to move the gear lev...

I painted my 2010 using this process. If you look around this site you can find some before pictures. I have a link below to where you can see my finished 2010. I'm not a pro, I was 30 years ago, painting heavy equipment while I was going to school. Step 1 - POWER WASH Power Wash the heck out of the...

2010 Ready for work

I spent my spare time last year restoring this 2010 diesel. Lots of things to do but a good sound machine with nearly brand new tracks. I had to rewire, new alternator and replace all gauges. New tach cable from NOS at a Deere dealer in WI. Found a belly pan and rock guards from http://www.peilatrac...

Rock Guards - How Important on a 2010?

This is my first crawler. Haven't even used it yet on the property. After I got it and sent some pictures some folks pointed out that it didn't have rock guards for the tracks. I have the sprocket shields but not the guards that run the length of the rails and cover around the rollers. My questions ...

Thanks for that. I guess I better figure out where the Deere dealer is around here.

I need the whole cable in and outer shell. It looks like the inner cable snapped due to the outer cable being slightly crushed.

Yup the end cap on the cooler froze and cracked. Both ends of the cooler have been welded before. One end looks fine, the other is cracked and showing about 1/16" gap for about an inch along the circle of the thin part of the transmission oil cooler cap. This is Deere Part AT-16540 which looks like ...

That did it. I held the round brass end with some pliers and clamped the cable with some other plyers and leveraged them against each other. The square end of the cable slid out of the tachometer input it was really wedged in there. Now it seems that 45 years of engine oil vapors have gotten up in t...

I took the tach out of the panel and have the tach and cable assembly out on the bench. The cable has a threaded connector connecting to the tachometer housing. I have the threads loose however the wound spring and its brass end appear to be fused to the input of the tach housing. I've pulled as har...

2010 Tachometer Cable

My 2010 Tachometer Cable is broken at the engine end, the spring cable inside is sheered off. I got the tach and cable out and now I cannot remove the cable from the tach. Anyone know how to seprate the cable from the tach without damaging the tach? My tach appears to work when I spin the cable, so ...

Nice 1010. I've only seen one in person and this one is way nicer than the one I saw. I'm a new 2010 owner. Only thing I can pass on is that there are lots of manuals on the JD official site that you can download electronicly for much lower cost than the official printed ones. My snow is all gone bu...
