Re: 450c 6-way fittings?
jjgurley- your engenering mind is absolutely correct! Flow and pressure go hand in hand. The way to flow/ pressure test any hyd pump is to put flow meter directly into outlet of pump, so any oil from pump has to go thru flow meter. Then put RPM of pump at a predetermined test amount, ( some is 1000 ...

Re: 450c 6-way fittings?
If you had good hyds before- then someone played with this 6 way, now you have slow hyds, I would remove 6 way, have it repaired/ replaced properly, then try hyds, more than likely you will have good hyds again.

Re: My 1st Crawler - 440
Very nice job on truck!!
When you get the 440 done, I am sure it will be a definite show stopper!!
Good luck!!

Re: 350 steering clutches
Do you mean .023” or .0023 shims . 2 1/2 thousands isn’t very much for shims. I don’t have a picture of final drive in front of me, but suspect it much like a 440 ic. If you assemble pinion assembly, but leave out the shims, and gently and evenly tighten pinion bearing cap until bolts are snug, Abou...

Re: 440ic gas
Got my little jewel 99% dismantled. Found LH final is toast, RH is good ( will replace brgs and seals) both sides clutch/ brake linkage and bell cranks rusted and worn out. Both clutch assemblies rusted and frozen, steer clutch throw out brg ramp assembly cracked. Trans bearings good, but low gear c...

Re: 440ic gas
Forgot to put in this is RH final drive. Haven’t counted teeth on bull gear and pinion, to see if I have early or late serial number ones. Will do that today.

440ic gas
440 gas, 5 speed, no reverser, 442172 serial. Found bull gear had 3 major cracks from years ago, someone machined a collar, and staked it in place, ( very ingenious) Now it needs major help, bull gear and hub/axle, bearings seals etc. Found steering plates rusted together(6 metal,7 fibre) looks like...

Re: 440ic brake/clutch pedal
Update for clutch and brake pedal shaft and rebuild of 440ic- Got clutch housing and reverser housing off( no reverser) main input shaft has been welded, but looks like they did a good job( straight) noticed reverser housing full of rust, believe there was no breather, so housing couldnt breathe ?? ...

440ic brake/clutch pedal
Is the brake and clutch pedal both activated when one or other is pressed?
Got track frame assembly away from final drive/ transmission assembly, now to remove finals, clutches, and dismantle trans to find if I have more problems, other than first and second cluster gear.

Are these still available, and where are you located? Do you have any 440 engine parts?

Re: crawler points
I wonder if you put a CD conversion pickup unit in, it would cure all points and condenser problems??
They make them for 6 or 12 volt.

JD 2000 series service manual
I have an original JD 2000 series service manual. I only have a 440ic so this manual isn’t of any use to me. ( I have both parts and service manual for 440ic) if anyone wants I will sell or trade for something.
