Re: Master pins
Most any parts store should be able to get you flat nose lock ring pliers, which should work. Some part numbers are Armstrong # 67-555, NAPA # SER2534, Gear Wrench # 2534D, O'Reilly #88001.

Re: 450c parts manual
Check with Lavoy and see if he can get you one. He sells some manuals from his store. If he does purchasing one from him will help support this site. The John Deere parts catalogs are online as well, if that helps. Its handy to have a hard copy and use the online one to check for part number changes...

Re: 1010 or mc
You skipped right over the 40, 420, 430, and 440's. Any reason? A 430 or 440IC may have the wet clutch reverser (a few late 420 had it as well). They will be a bit smaller than a 1010.

Re: john deere 420c steering clutch linkage adjustment...
Lever travel can be affected by wear anywhere in the linkage. How tight are any pins in holes and the ball joints on the linkage to the cam? The manual gives a free travel dimension for the steering lever. Does the free travel of the right lever match that dimension? That is from the lever on its re...

Re: john deere 420c steering clutch linkage adjustment...
You said both clutches were rebuilt. All new parts? Were the pressure plate fingers set with the JD7 gauge? What was the condition of the inserts in the quill and cam, as well as the balls between them?

Re: JD350c cutting edge
Several different buckets were used on 350Cs, including some may be aftermarket. Cutting edge stock width, thickness, length, and style will vary with the bucket on the machine. Light materials buckets will generally have a different edge that a rock (severe duty) or a 4 way bucket of the same size....

And they generally had 6 or 12 volts embossed in the tag. Does yours? People put the wrong voltage reproduction tags on them as well. I doubt an auctioneer will even notice that, unless it is being looked at as a 100% restoration.

Re: 350c running rough at lower rpm
Sorry, I apparently missed where you had already replaced the transfer pump. I suppose it is possible it is defective. That or the umbrella seals are the only things I can see to put that much fuel in the engine, that quick. And I'll ask this just as a double check, not doubting you have it right. T...

Re: 350c running rough at lower rpm
The transfer pump can dump fuel into the oil as well, a common failure. I would advise changing the transfer pump, given the issues you have had, the new style, not rebuildable, without the sediment bowl made on it is not that expensive. Check the inside of the bushing in the injection pump the umbr...

Re: 450C don't move
I agree with Leonard at this point. When the clutch pedal is pushed about halfway down, the clutch valve dumps the HLR oil, stopping travel but leaving the power shaft with live power from the engine clutch. It could be issues in the HLR valves or a bypass valve causing the problem. Need to be sure ...

If you haven't, contact Lavoy. Send him an email (postmaster@jdcrawlers.com) or call him at the phone number on the homepage during CST business hours and explain your need. He may have one that will work, given he sells parts as well as repairs the older JD crawlers.

In the filler neck, the open end of the small tube you see is the vent tube. it runs down through the inside of the tank and is open ended on the bottom where it exits out through the bottom skin of the tank. They often get plugged at the lower end by insects or dirt build up. You might be able to b...
