you might get her back going with new piston and rings, only problem is your engine has a sleeve deck instead of cylinder sleeves. if the deck is worn and you have cylinder taper...it will.... you will need a new cylinder deck along with new pistons and rings $$$$$$. I don't know if the sleeve deck ...

I will second the isolator being the noise, rattle, loose type noise at idle then smooth's out as engine speed is increased.
engine needs to come out for replacement.
there is a new style isolator kit, pricey but much better than original style.

nice looking machine, she sounds good too.
maybe the turbo went bad and someone removed and put non turbo parts in place if that's able to be done... cheaper than a new turbo, seen that done to case tractor before.
people do weird things over the years to old equipment.

I would stick with the gas engine, that is a nice engine and much easier to deal with than a Detroit.
I would guess your noise is piston slap on cold startup, rod knocks don't go away when warmed up.
I always liked the gas models better, not a fan of the 2-53.

both gaskets let go in same place, that looks like the block to head fit is out of whack. did you use a high quality gasket, that gasket doesn't look very rugged from the pictures. does the engine run smooth....pinhole in sleeve most times engine misses and has white smoke after cold start. I would ...

if your not having any issues with it and you only use it from time to time I would just use it as it is.
your right.....might be years before you get to the replacement point.
hope I didn't just curse you

I would remove them from the machine, try to use a grease gun to push the adjuster completely apart and clean up everything real well. some heat may be needed to get the grease to soften up some. I have used a cylinder hone to clean up the bore and they came out real nice. if the piston tube itself ...

I thought I read somewhere about not putting a reverse load on the hydraulic reverser on my 1010 as well, or did I get get mixed up with the "spider gear version" of the earlier machines?
I always wondered why loading the earlier machines in reverse was a no-no, thanks for the explanation Stan.

this is why there are not many track presses around..... cheaper for new chains...lot less hassle. Lavoy's in the process of helping me do my 1010 undercarriage....I can tell you from experience if you think your undercarriage is worn......it is really worn. I have also found a ton of things wrong t...

I priced out pins and bushings, using old rails vs complete new chain on 350. by the time I found a track shop that had the tooling, paid for the pressing of new pins and bushings, it only cost another 400. for brand new berco chains. this was about 12 years ago. price it out both ways and see what ...

if you got a change of symptoms by playing with the injectors, seems that would be the next thing to eliminate, cross your fingers you might have your machine running and are able to use it....if not you will be able to check pump and injectors off you list.

yeah if you can bypass the hydraulics and engine responds, sounds like engine/fuel system are at least trying to do the correct things. now it sounds like a drive line bind or brakes bands in steering clutches rusted tight or brake linkage staying down. can you get on an incline and see if she will ...
