Hi,

Yes, I recall that one from a while back. I seem to also recall having found an outfit in Italy that makes a PAT blade for it. It would certainly seem like something they would have figured out to import here, doesn't it?

In the meantime, I keep on using the old 420c.

later!

Hi, My issue with a tracked skid-steer loader is that, well, it *is* a loader. No bulldozer options. Oh, they have blades one can put onto the loader arms, but those are mounted all wrong to work as a proper bulldozer. What gets me is that none of the makers think of this and offer up a bulldozer-eq...

Hi,

Wow. Sounds like I ought to make the trip, and bring the good digital SLR and lenses. ;)

I might have seen reference to the 'GPO' and mis-remembered that as a 'G', which would make for quite a difference in the crawler! A 'G' Lindeman would have been quite a sight!

Hi, There were lots based on the 'B'. That is what Lindeman used: The model 'B' Orchard chassis, aka 'BO'. I also recall crawlers based on the 'D', also by Lindeman, but not in the quantities they used the 'B' for. I dimly recall that there were also some based on the 'G' as well. I never heard of a...

Hi, My thinking is that once I go to all the trouble to get in there, then I'm going to do it all so that I won't have to go back in there again any time soon! You can always keep any parts that measure out as still being usable in case of some weird failure down the road. A crawler will steer quite...

Hi,

Hmmm. Sounds like we ought to have a Board meet-up at the auction.

I have some time to actually go, but no money to buy any new toys with.

Lately, I've been getting my 'new toy fix' by wandering around with neighbors looking at iron and then spending their money! :P

Hi,

Of course, they did. Clever. I've never seen one of those, but it sounds like a plan to me. ;)

I know! It was not only to reduce parts inventory, but to make lots of folks wonder why in heck someone put the danged thing on backwards! :P

Hi, Yes, I do that job in pairs. Not that I've had a situation where something odd happened to only one side, though. In my case, it's always been due to normal wear and so if one side starts acting up it won't be long before the other side does as well. So, I bite onto that particular bullet and ju...

Hi, Yeah, that RH housing on the LH side really sticks out, doesn't it? I presume someone 'made do' with it. I'm also going to presume here that it's now cracked because it was subjected to loads reverse from what it had been designed to withstand. Fortunately, replacing it with the proper housing w...

Hi, Fiber discs and a brake band at the least, I suspect. You might be able to clean up the steel discs, but if it were me doing all the work to yank it apart, I'd get new steels as well.... Dang those pesky plugged drain holes, anyway! Your subject title had me thinking I was about to see a crawler...

Hi, While a V8 sounds like a fun project idea, you'd never get the thing fit in there. Unlike a car, machines are designed around the engine choice with no room to use anything else. Even if you did shoehorn it in there, the thing would have way too much power as Lavoy points out. Deere did this wit...

Hi, One thing I've always seen is that the flanges on the #5 (rear) and #4 rollers on each side wind up cracked off. Sometimes they're also missing on #3. I suspect it's a progressive failure mode caused by the side loads generated by the backhoe. Of course, it means that as time goes on, there's an...

Gerald, Sounds just like mine. Are you sure it has a dry clutch? The straight 350's (including mine) have a reverser mounted between the engine and the transmission. If it has a reverser, there will be a lever on the left side of the dash that puts it in forward, neutral, or reverse. The left pedal...

Hi, There's an 'LT' designation, meaning Long Track. If you meant 'LT' instead of 'LP'..... I don't need *any* fingers to count the number of Liquid Petroleum gas powered crawlers I've seen, as I have yet to see LP number one on a crawler. I have seen LP powered wheel tractors, though. Back to the t...
