Re: Oh boy, need a lot of track help
That’s what i’m thinking and hoping Jim B. But, something tells me I won’t be that lucky. It’s fixed for now. I brought ran it back to my house from quite a distance through some rough terrain and as of now. All is good. But, I want to track down an idler used or preferred new. I’ve contacted 4-5 pe...

Re: Oh boy, need a lot of track help
Thank you, Jim B. Great news, got the track back on. I may have discovered another problem that doesn’t make sense. Unless, my model doesn’t have that 3/8 bb inside the tensioner. Mine never had one. I was extremely careful not to lose it. In fact, I used a strong magnet to cover half of the hole as...

Re: Oh boy, need a lot of track help
Does anyone know what the housing is called that has the grease fitting attached on the idler ? You know, the square looking block that rests on the rail. I assume that part and the bushing inside the wheel causes the idler wheel movement if it’s worn ? A lot of people sell the idler wheel and yoke....

Re: Oh boy, need a lot of track help
Thank you guys. I appreciate any suggestions. Yes, I contacted Lavoy and my local John Deere. No luck in either places. I also talked to a local heavy equipment mechanic that I deal with a lot with my work and no one has any positive answers. i find it surprising that there aren’t more options out t...

Re: 450c needs a squirt of ether to start then runs and starts fine
Same here on my 450. I have very good oil pressure and lots of power. I believe compression definitely plays a role in needing starter fluid or not. But, I also believe it’s not a definite deciding factor. The way mine goes, if it’s under 30 degrees it needs a tiny whiff. Colder it is below 30 it ne...

Re: Oh boy, need a lot of track help
I worked on it a couple hours yesterday. The track is very close to being back on. I had to take a break away from it as my chinese come along broke. I exchanged it for a new one today. The only part of the track not on at this point is the bottom rollers. I learned, yes without a doubt both front a...

Need help with part number please ?
I need the part number for a 65-70 JD 450 loader. The part number I need is for the 3/8 bb inside the idler tensioner. The bb under the pressure release bolt. I was extremely careful not to lose it. But, it doesn’t appear there is one down inside the cavity. I just want to order another so it doesn’...

Re: Are 350 / 450 front end loader buckets compatible ?
That’s very helpful information, Jim. No I never bothered using online John Deere parts catologs being I figured it was a waste of time knowing all the parts for my machine are probably no longer made. My loader is a 65-70 model. But you make a lot of good points about aftermarket parts.

Re: Are 350 / 450 front end loader buckets compatible ?
My loader bucket is missing 5 teeth. I was contemplating welding on a few teeth from an a 50’s model Caterpillar D4 or tracking down another used 350/450 bucket for my 450.

Re: Oh boy, need a lot of track help
Thanks, Rick. That’s the kind of suggestions I was looking for. I own a large estate and the bad news is it’s on the property out in the woods. I have no other heavy equipment except a dump truck and a compact loader tractor. I bought a good come along a couple hours ago. I realize I can use the fro...
