Yes, on GM vehicles for one, the solenoid acts as the resistor. If I get a chance today, I will try and look at my 350, but I still don't think that they have an external resistor on them. Sounds to me like in the past, someone may have modified your crawler, but that is no suprise, I have seen way ...

One thing I just thought of, when you get it running on the starter, turn the dist by hand one way or the other, and you will find out real quick if it is the timing. I have never had the dist out of a 350, but if it is like the two cylinder Dubuques, there is only one position, it is not like a Che...

I believe oil on the inside is not correct. Usually if a Detroit gets oil in the blower, it will cause the engine to run wild and blow up. The larger Detroits had a valve that can be shut to kill the air going into the engine to shut them down when this occurs. There is an update on the blower seal,...

Do you know for sure that you have good hot uninterreupted power to the coil? If the wire or solenoid is bad, you may have good power when cranking, but loose it when the solenoid is not engaged. I know you said you ran a jumper wire, but you also said you blew the resistor, not sure what you mean b...

Hey, I never got an invitation, what gives!?!?!?!? Your final drive bearings are out, don't use the crawler further, you will damage more stuff. You will need to remove the final drive and take it apart to see how much stuff is damaged. As long as you have it off, be sure to check everything else th...

There will be a difference in the level from down to up. The ram side of the cylinder has much smaller displacement than the non ram side, so as the arms go up, the oil level goes down. That is why you check the oil level with the bbucket down, otherwise it would overflow the reservoir when you let ...
