Rain cap on the exhaust appears to be up, that doesn't bode well.

I have high hopes the 5 gallon bucket in the picture was over the exhaust....

Re: Scared newbie - should I just sell it? How much?

That appears to me to be in fairly good shape overall. I would 100% try and get that running find out what is going on. It's more than likely broken to be left in that location.

Re: Split link on JD450C undercarriage

My salt tracks do not have a gator style master link. I had to pressure wash it and get on my hands and knees and I found one link that had score marks in the side and a very slight mushrooming, that's my master pin. I looked a couple times just quickly, it's a very slight difference. You have to be...

Re: JD 450 Hydraulic Filter

If memory servers me right fluid is returned thru the filter. If the filter was offset enough it was blocking the return line with the wall of the filter, that might give some interesting results. Either way , you need to get the filter on correctly else you risk ruining other components with unfilt...

Re: 450C delivered tomorrow

Welcome aboard ! You'll soon be converted to another JD crawler minion for Lavoy, he's good like that. My old 450c is addicted to either too, I replaced my original starter with a newer high torque and I've always felt like it turns over slower, I'll be curious to hear if another battery helps that ...

Re: New hydraulic pump and now a pressure question

I guess I'm going to ask a dumb question I thought I knew the answer too. When you say you replaced the pump with bad splines I assume you're talking about the pump in front of the motor under the radiator. You then specify pump pressures in the transmission. I thought the pump up front only drove t...

Re: 400G LONG TRACK

Congratulations on your find!!

I'd try and find someone who would appreciate the 350c and sell it. Nothing worse on a dozer than sitting forever, they are made to work. Now if you have sentimental attachment to it, I get that I'm close to the worlds worst on selling stuff.

Re: engine oil in reverser

I just had this debate about the additives and anti foaming agents of hydraulic fluid with someone. Many skid steers (including my 329d) say to run 15/40 motor oil in the hydraulics. My 2000 LS 180 I just sold says the same thing , use 15/40. I just do not understand the thinking of the engineers on...

Re: 450C S#316652

If memory serves me right the blue plugs are part of the steering housing as well, for that little sump area, drain that as well. I cannot answer your questions about the turbo as I do not have one. I changed my alternator over to a Delco 10SI one wire alternator for simplicity and never looked back.
