Yes, I have had several heads fixed. Not sure that it is a weak point in the head, or a weak point in the head of the operator that let it overheat at some time in it's life. Lavoy    That's what i think too. Overheat might be the cause. I already changed the gauge, rad and thermosta...

I bought one cabinet that is fairly good for 450$. It has everything, gloves different nozzles, light, etc It has ports to fit a dust collector system. I installed an old shop vac vaccum cleaner on it. It sends dust outside the garage and you can see what you're doing in there. You can do an home ma...

Well i sent the damaged motor head to an engine shop and here is the pic: http://i1235.photobucket.com/albums/ff437/440ironpopper/image_zps9ed717f9.jpg The mechanic there told me it has seen better days but that they can fix it. #2 cylinder area has been repaired in the past as we can see. I think i've red a couple times on this board that letting the tracks soak in the water is probably the best trick.

Thanks Paul. Yes it is very satisfying to work with it after all the adventures! It is surprising how low the gas consumption is vs work accomplished with this engine. I put a 5 gallons in the morning and i don't worry about it for the rest of the day. The undercarriage needs serious work but i keep...

Be careful turning under load, even avoid it. All the torque of the push is being split between 2 finals. When you pull that steering clutch the torque goes to the other side. = broken finals = $$ You're right there. Good point. Also, as the torque is applied on one side, you increase the risks of ...

Is it normal to have to pull the seat to adjust them? I can't see down in the top cover or get anything in there to get the brake band adjusting nut to move. My seat is not factory but i have to remove the bottom cushion to see something in there. The brake band nut is not easy to access without do...

Thanks ben. This issue is not the end of the world but it is frustrating because i needed to do a trail on the land. I'm looking for parts with Lavoy and hopefully i can finish the trail in my next off time. I really enjoyed operating it. Steers good and runs good (better than what the ad claimed wh...

Now that the dozer can move by itself the field repair turned into a shop repair. Thanks to my neighbor who allowed me to use his nice shop crane! The clutch had to be replaced. When i got to it, the clutch wasn't bad at all. The problem was that a lot of dirt in there was causing the disk to not re...

440 track adjuster

I have the older style track adjusters (threaded tube). One is stripped. I can't find the hydraulic adjuster part # for 440 in the book. What would be the best alternative? Change the broken tube and screw I find them... or upgrade to the hydraulic style. Where can I find parts for that at a decent ...
