On my D4 I used a come along hooked to the track and around the dozer and drove it back on. If it came off that way, it'll go back on that way too. I had a D2 that was a track throwing fool. Got pretty good at it. Once was on an extremely steep hill backing up the D4 (standing on the dash) and start...

I have worked some very steep slopes with a wide track D4. Slid down a couple sideways. Greased the seat the first time, but after that it was just turn back uphill go back and finish the job. The only one I ever saw brownsided was when there was a drop off at the bottom of the slope. I would NOT tr...

Good grief man, that land is flat and you have dirt!!!!!  I have to hunt for at least an hour to find a place flat enough to check my oil. Everything I do involves rocks. In some places, solid rock. All of it on a slope. Some very steep slopes. Dirt?? If I want dirt it's easiest to haul ...

Could have something to do with pulling a chain (forwrd) vs pushing a chain (backwards) causing rail wear as the slack is bunched to the rollers.

By Fri we had 2' and I figured I better move it as I had trouble getting up the drive. Fired up the D4 and made a run down. Going down hill, I had, at times, a pile 6-8 high and 10-15' in front of me rolling in front of the blade. Cleaned out the drive approach off the county rd. Stated back up the ...

That 6" last night turned out to be 2". Didn't need to plow today. Really blowing hard out there right now, but 40 degrees. North of us got the snow AND wind. They are in deep "stuff" right now. 160 slide offs or wrecks last night.

I LOVE WINTER

40C

Anyone in the WA state area looking for a 40C, 3 roller? It is at this time complete (tracks are off) but in need of work. A donor tractor? If I don't sell it complete, I will be parting it out.

Thanks Lavoy.

The only other things I can think of are the generator, battery box, front grill guard, grill screens and fenders. Maybe some sheet metal but I don't think the 40's are better than the 420.

Looks like the whole 40 is going.

More interchange questions.

I really need to get some parts books!!  Back to the question: I have a late model 40 that's looking like it going to get parted out an early 420. I'm thinking I would like to keep some parts and some that the 420 is missing. 1. Hyd pump? None on the 420 2. PTO? None on the 420 These wo...

Yes, it is a 2 cyl diesel. I'm still trying to figure out why they put a valve on it. How would you know how much to adjust it?
