Sounds like you plugged a jet. The dirt in the bowl would be good evidence of this. There originally is a small cylindrical screen in the brass inlet fitting of the carb. Not supprizing if it isn't still there, AKA the dirt in the bowl. That can be corrected by placing an automotive in line fuel fil...

Make sure that you get a bolt that fills the hole as a smaller bolt that has some slop will shear much more quickly. I run a 6' king kutter with a 75 horse tractor and it takes 1/2 inch bolts. I just use the bolt to drive out the piece left in the center shaft after aligning the holes, it doesnt usu...

Bruce, If your main engine clutch is stuck then you have no correct way (other than with the engine off) of shifting gears or more importantly the reverser, what you are calling the shuttle shift. The reverser is NOT designed to be moved from forward to reverse without the main clutch released and t...

Hi, An old timer showed me a trick to removing a seal like that. Get yourself a couple of 3/4 inch sheet metal screws and take a drill that is a little smaller than the screw. Drill a couple of holes into the metal body of the seal, just through the outer shell on opposite sides of the seal. Screw i...

I have an even better tip. Take that little gadget with the little numbers and tiny screen on it and toss it in the nearest trash can, lake, fire or toilet and flush it. that will completly stop all of those agrivating calls, especially the ones from your wife! You will be amazed how free and peacef...

Lavoy, The only one I know of is at a ammo Manufacturer in South Dakota. My Brother has seen it and showed me pictures of the above ground view of the target "house" They burried I think he said 18 inch cement pipe for the 100 yards (Strait!) then dug the pits for the shooting room on one end and th...

I think you can allign the slot and narrow side to the outside by a little trail and error engaging the spiral cut gears. I believe you can see down the distributor shaft to see if the drive meshed correctly (slit parrallel to block with the slot offset to the outside of the engine). This allows the...

Ron, If I remember correctly it was just behind and maybe a little above the oil filter housing attachment to tthe block. It was maybe a 1/4 inch plug. It should be in line with the rear cam bearing location. When you pull that plug you should be able to see the outside of the cam bearing shell. If ...
