I found the tag on my carb (Thanks Chuck!).
I have a TSX 756 on my early 440.
There is no way to know for sure but I feel that I have a low hour machine, for it's age and that the carb is original.
If only someone hadn't painted it with a mop.

The parts book I have (JD# PC-573-Dec66) says that 440 gas engines used Marvel-Schebler carburetors # TSX-756, TSX-777 or TSX-768. The parts breakdown shows early 440's used JD part #AT 10181 T carb. They define early as before serial # 448000. Everywhere there is a difference in carb parts they lis...

I use a NAPA 1148 on my gas 440IC.
They are made for NAPA by Wix and according to my NAPA guy they fit from the JD M to the 440, maybe beyond.
So far I have never been let down by a NAPA filter whatever vender they buy them from that year.

Nice find!
The only thing better than finding what you're looking for is getting a deal on it.
Best of luck with your new crawler.

Both levers on my 440 work with only reasonable effort.
It sounds like a linkage binding problem.
Some careful application of WD-40 might free things up.
Be carefull not to get any oil of any kind on the clutch plates.
Very bad things can happen.

The steel disks can sometimes be reused if they are not worn thin.
But again, is it worth the risk?
I know it hurts to throw out what looks like good parts but sometimes it just needs to be done.

I don't know about the rubbing problem. I haven't gotten the finals off of my 440 yet and don't know how close they are to your MC anyway. I'm sure someone out there with experience with an MC can answer that problem. As for the oil soaked brake bands: Over the years, with many machines I have came ...

If the engine RPM keeps up but the machine slows down going up hill either the engine clutch or both steering clutches are slipping. To check which one, engage the PTO and try the hill again. The MC has a transmission driven PTO so if the PTO slows down with the ground speed the engine clutch is sli...

I have no experience with the GM diesel but,
generally the upper mark is full with the filter being full.
Most engines full is when not running but some is with the engine running.
I'm sure someone out there has a copy of the manual for your machine and can be more exact than I can.
