Should be a snap ring that can be a bear to remove the first time. Unless you have an outer snap ring tool for snap rings without holes the best I've found is two screwdrivers of the same width turned in opposite directions.

Re: button head grease gun couplers
Button head fittings come in different sizes. Don't recall exactly but believe they should be 5/8" on your 1010. Alemite brand comes to mind and should be available at auto parts stores, particularly in rural areas.

Re: jd 350 WINCH
If you ever get down to South Texas you can have the one I took off of a 350 for $200. In this part of the country a ripper is preferrable. I am too old and feeble to pack it for shipping.

Re: JD 450B - no vin tag
Not totally familiar with your unit but pretty sure you have open center hydraulics. There should be a "slot" in the control box outboard of the six-way stick where JD put the stick for the ripper. You should not need a diverter valve but any open center spool you put on it should have ports at leas...

Re: 1970 350 crawler won't go forward
Make sure you have a source for a transmission before you jump on it. Sounds like it spun out the bearing on the lower shaft and probably shelled out the ring gear and pinion, too. Been there.

Re: starter keeps turning
It would be most unusual if your problem was the starter itself. More likely the solenoid or your wiring. The solenoid plunger pushes a copper washer against the battery and the starter lugs and it should stay there only as long as the solenoid magnet is energized. The washer has a spring that shoul...

Re: steering clutch wont disengage
You adjust the clutch through the bung hole, not the top cover. If the TO bearing will not reach the fingers when adjusted all the way out you have no choice but to remove the final. Just make sure the 1/2" socket doesn't fall off when adjusting.

Re: 420c steering to the right...
If it does not steer straight there are three possibilities: 1) A clutch is slipping (Do both tracks spin under load?); 2) BOTH tracks are misaligned in the same direction (possible if you loosened the track.) or; 3) The pins and bushings are worn more on one side. The "differential" drives both sid...

Re: 450E long track
I am not familiar with a 450E but suspect you have a main clutch ahead of the transmission. The transmission clutches will slip more readily if they are "made up" under load. If they "make up" unloaded, as with a master clutch in, they are less likely to slip, and may not slip when you stop clutchin...

Re: Steering Clutch not disengaging
Also note that one plate goes in behind the snap ring. This is not clear i the parts book diagram. It will work otherwise, but not disengage after a time.

Re: Reverser went out
What do you mean by "went out"? If it will still move forward AND you have a reverse gear you can work it. Not so if it only has reverse. The reverser and transmission are their own reservoirs and there is a dipstick for each. I would change the reverser filter before condemning the reverser.

Re: Engine Clutch
If you know your fingers are set evenly then just live with it. There are other reasons for delay but if it is only a delay and not "forever". Count your blessings while you wait. A slightly warped plate, "swollen" spot, or worn splines can have the much longer effect. Wish mine was only five.

The wear on the old one looks like your track is not centered.

Re: 2010 crawler dogs down in reverse
While in reverse with the clutch depressed pull back both steering handles, then let the clutch out. If the engine doesn't bog down the problem is in the finals (or brakes). If it does the problem is ahead of the final drives.

Before you pull the engine check the reverser filter.
