Re: 400G crawler top rollers
I bought my roller through the local dealer, who ordered aftermarket which matches up exactly to what is on traxnteeths site. What is interesting is that they show two rollers for the 350B. The one I got is AT18931, but the AT167258 also is listed for a 350B and the 400G. That had me confused, becau...

Re: 350B Loader Pads
I will cut the grousers a bit. Pretty well could picture how bad the ride would be with new high grousers here and there. Also can appreciate how bad they would dig in and cause strain on the rest of the machine.

Re: 350B Loader Pads
Thanks Leonard. That settles my worry that I should have loader pads. I’ll stay with what I got and be happy about it.
The bolt holes in question are still the same size (1/2”), but just a hair larger. I’m sure if torqued right they will be fine.

350B Loader Pads
I have read a lot of posts about the perils of using dozer pads on a loader. In the service manual the difference in weight per square inch on the pads is 50% more for the loader (that kind of puts the concern into perspective).Unfortunately my loader came with the dozer pads and I don’t really want...

Re: 350 New Upper Carrier
$90 is a great price. Checked my other upper idler and it is in good shape, with no play, so can’t benefit from that anymore. Will be needing the gun though. Here is a picture of my new upper idler side by side with the old one. Does the difference between the two worry anyone? http://jdcrawlers.lce...

Re: 350 New Upper Carrier
Thanks Leonard. I will go with oil now that I know the roller is designed for that. None of the three cap bolts connect to the center or internals of the roller. The center plug therefore is the only way to get grease or oil into the roller. Also there is no hole to allow easy passage of oil or grea...

350 New Upper Carrier
I am replacing one of the upper carriers on my 350B. I have a new carrier (after market) with shaft and a new bellows seal (JD..yes my heart stopped for a bit). Now that I have familiarized myself with all the parts and how it works, I have a few questions. I was able to get the old shaft out of the...

Re: 350B Brake Adjusting Bolt Seized
I removed the throw out bearing carrier and throw out bearing the other day. The bearing ID is about 10 thou larger than the carrier OD. This is a very loose fit. On the carrier I found a crack and apparent wear. I’m pretty sure the carrier is not something readily available, but I’m sure it could b...

Re: 350B Brake Adjusting Bolt Seized
Pulled the final drive yesterday and found one side of the brake band friction band broken off. I did not measure anything yet, but the clutch was obviously not releasing. My first thought is that the brake would bind up well before the clutch had a chance to disengage. There was no oil or grease on...

Re: 350B Brake Adjusting Bolt Seized
Gave the flange axle a few taps on the top today and low and behold the final drive opened right up. Was going to thread in the 7” sprocket bolts to continue the removal but they were pretty beat up. Didn’t have anything on hand to chase the threads, so didn’t proceed again. Also, put some good pene...

Re: 350B Brake Adjusting Bolt Seized
Great info Leonard. Thanks. I have inexperienced and stupid in spades. Gave up young a while back. Your advice on 5/8” supporting bolts is very valuable. I had already set up 1/2” threaded rod in preparation and was considering getting high strength rod because the existing support was so wimpy. Rig...

350B Brake Adjusting Bolt Seized
Getting closer and closer to pulling the left side final drive to redo the steering clutch. Today I removed all bolts and tried to separate the drive from the machine. It did not want to move much but I did see some light (I.e. a couple sheets of paper width) at the bottom half of the drive. Was usi...

That’s kind of what I was worried about mostly (gland). Thanks. I will modify.
