You're a guy, no other justification is needed.

What is the most useless tool you ever bought?
Did a major clean up in my shop recently. Found all kinds of stuff forgot I had and some I been looking for for years. Also a few things I would have been just fine to not be reminded I spent good money on. One was a dremel tool, what a worthless piece of crap. Got it to engrave my name on some tool...

Commercial zero turn mowers
Grass cutting time again. We have a cub cadet lawn tractor we got from Tractor Supply. Have had nothing but trouble with it. It broke down twice already this year. The wife decided she's had enough, she wants a commercial grade zero turn mower otherwise mowing becomes my job. Anybody have recommenda...

To paint or not to paint
I have a backhoe I put out for sale last fall, with spring coming should get more interest in it. The paint is original and I think good for a 30 plus year old machine, how ever others may not see it that way. Wondering if it is worth the expense to repaint. Was told once by a dealer that if a machi...

Re: Ohio Weather
Just got home, had to run up to Erie for wife's doctor appointment. Hit 10 below in a few places. snow squalls. Lots and lots of blowing snow. Couple of whiteouts. And of course the jackass that follows 5 feet off the rear bumper. Don't mind winter if we could just stay home.

Avoid this cinematic atrocity
The weather has shut my business down, so as you will see I have way to much time on my hands. I don't watch many movies but I do enjoy a good car chase film, especially one with 60 and 70's muscle cars. Mopar being the best. My all time favorite film is called Vanishing Point, the original one from...

Re: Need advice on dealing with asshats
Parts came today, order was complete and the right parts. what a ordeal. I can promise I will not use that supplier again.
Thanks for everyone's advice. I will know what to do next time this happens.

Re: Need advice on dealing with asshats
And the bs continues. Called yesterday to cancel the order, they promised they would ship it next day air. I would have it today. Almost 7 o'clock, still waiting. Should I leave the light on for them?

Re: Need advice on dealing with asshats
I send a email telling them if they can't ship by Tuesday to cancel the order. Think now I will call them first thing on Monday and cancel it immediately. I worked for 16 years as a receiving clerk, so I know that "I have to call manufacturer" is bull. We always had a due date when we ordered someth...

Re: Need advice on dealing with asshats
Thanks for the tips guys. I think eight days and they haven't shipped yet, can't even tell me when, that is excessive. If they can't fill the order in a timely manner they should say so. Meanwhile I can't get anything else in the shop until I get the trailer back together. Can't move equipment until...

Need advice on dealing with asshats
Have to put brakes on my equipment trailer. Got it in the shop and tore the brakes down. Then I order the parts from a online supplier. That was on the 10th, got a email conformation but never got a notice that parts were shipped. So yesterday the 18th I call asking status of the order. They can't t...

Re: Moved Into Our Tiny House
The pitch build up slows down your feed rate, affects the sawing quality and causes the blade to run hot. Try using a blade lube, I'm sure you will be happy with the result. I agree a lot wasted wood by leaving the small logs in the woods, but there is a reason big mills don't want them. It just cos...

Re: Moved Into Our Tiny House
Another thing, almost forgot about. Cleaning and lubing the blade. My mill had gravity feed system, they recommended using water and dish soap. It never worked right and I took it off. I use a spray bottle with bar oil and kerosene or diesel mixed 50/50. Spray it on both sides of the blade occasiona...

Re: Moved Into Our Tiny House
I am with you Cuttingedge. Saw from the small end, with my mill I can raise the log to compensate for taper. You want to end up sawing parallel to the heart because the center of the log has poorest quality wood, you want to keep that low grade lumber in as few boards as possible. By turning 180 aft...

Re: Moved Into Our Tiny House
I have a Woodmizer all hydraulic, only way to go IMO, turning logs by hand is hard on the back, especially when you work by yourself. Don't do portable anymore. Liability insurance got to be to much, and it is easier working at home where I am under roof and have a forklift. So now when somebody has...
