Re: jd440ic charging issues & hyd cyl issues
Hi dtoots1, If you have the original suction line between the tank and pump and want to get the original parts. The packing sleeves, for both ends of that line, to go in those fittings are JD # M3189T (.844" ID, 1.125 OD, .625" long, 80 durometer HYCAR material, not cheap - about $18.75 each). Those...

Re: jd440ic charging issues & hyd cyl issues
Not including the lines out to the cylinders from the control valve. There should be a line from the tank to the pump inlet (suction). Any leak in that line would allow air to enter. Then a line from the pump to the control valve (pressure). There should be a return line from the control valve back ...

Re: Final drive
I don't have a 450C manual to check however, my 450E manual calls for using sealant there and at some other points on the final drive. I think you have "wet" steering clutches like the E model. If that is the case, I would think you need sealant.

Re: Hydraulic filter
Use the dipstick under the seat to check the transmission oil level. You can add oil (Hy-Gard or equivalent) there if needed. You are just starting on maintenance items to look at. If you don't have manuals you should get at least the operators (OM) to start with as it gives you information on most ...

You might use a high strength Loctite type product (red thread locker, or retaining compound) on them for insurance, if you want.

Re: Need hose specs for JD350 loader hydraulic hose
Best I can say at present would be to find the part number for the hose you need and check with your JD dealer. If they don't have it, or can't make one, they may be able to tell you the type of ends and length. Some of the hose info shows up on the parts catalog info on line but the ones I looked a...

Re: Exhaust leak from turbocharger adapter Jd 450C
The fit between the adapter, turbo and elbow are slight tapers if I remember right. You might be able to move the elbow towards the turbo to tighten up on the adapter, holes where the elbow mounts appear to be slotted in the parts diagram. Maybe you can slot them a bit more if needed. You may need a...

Re: 40c Serial Number Tag
I am guessing at this; but I think they used screw nails (aka drive screws); many manufacturers used those to install metal tags. If you can see them broken off you may be able to tell the diameter if you lightly grind them flat to the housing. They can go in blind holes, as long as the holes are de...

Re: #61 blade mount left side
Try this link to the old parts catalog site and in the model box enter MC60 and see if it matches your blade. It appears they didn't put the #60 blade in the two newer catalog indexes. If it does you may want to do a print to pdf and save a copy to your computer that way. http://jdpc.deere.com/jdpc/...

Re: jd440ic engine
Hi dtoots1, You know enough time and money and you can do about anything. I would believe they used most if not all the same drive train for both the gas and diesel engines. The two stroke "Jimmy's" all had blowers. They don't have a separate exhaust stroke so they need the forced air to clear the c...

Re: Diesel spraying from one injection line at the bottom of the fuel injection pump
Replace the washers as Bruce suggested. The washers are the O-rings in this case. Closely check the mating surfaces of the bolt and injector line banjo fitting where the washers contact for damage. You might want to get a new bolt as well and try on that line, I have had to change some to get a good...

Re: jd440ic charging issues & hyd cyl issues
I would be suspicious of your "new" pump if things worked, even marginally when you reinstalled our old pump (with no other changes). If it was just an air leak it would seem the old pump, like the "new" pump, would not work at all. Also, I don't believe the diesel starter is the same as your gas en...

Re: jd440ic charging issues & hyd cyl issues
An air leak can cause problems but it doesn't sound like that is the whole of your problem. Does your suction line to the pump still have the fittings, I see in the parts book, which seal using a rubber packing ring or did they get changed to something else over time? If they use the packing rings I...

Re: What do I use to lockout my backhoe?
Looks like it could be a wedge shaped piece of steel that fills the rectangular hole and is long enough to extend a few inches beyond both ears. Straight on the sides and rear, with the taper on one side, likely on the front side. The wedge shape will tighten as it is inserted and keep it from dropp...
