I know Coleman's Military Surplus sells them for ~$25. They are in PA and I forget the website but I'm sure it can be found with a google search. Streamfitter- how well does that track jack work? I know i asked about one a few months ago and am about to be putting a track back together. Didn't know ...

I'd be willing to say go for it. Alot would depend on the material that you made it from. The ball cups are chromed like a bearing race. I don't know if it's crome or what it is.. I do know it's stout material.

Don- That spring, best I can tell, helps keep everything with a little tension. Mine was missing and I purchased one from Deere. Not very expensive.. I'd add it back. The bolts in the the final to steering clutch housing.. WOW.. I'd make sure they get put back and put in nice and snug. I'd be sure t...

Jimmy-

That is from the clutch end bearing getting worn if I'm not mistaken. (I do know it's from wear and age)

I just got one for my 420c .. it wasn't that much.. I'm pretty sure less than $20.00. Personally, I'd just get a new one and know it's round and straight.

Brad- We have a Lincoln 185 Tig/Stick machine. Works great for anything we need to do, and it will do great on aluminum. Only hold back is the lack of water cooling in the torch. If you plan on doing lots of high amp tig work it's a must or lots of aluminum (again high amps). Other thing that you sh...

I'd just like to take a minute and say thanks to you and Lavoy for making a great place to gather and help us all keep these old girls going. I know that it's not easy to keep a site up and running and the recent swap was no easy job.

Remember that as the clutches wear the fingers will move towards the center of the crawler. When this happens you'd move the bearing further down the slot.

That's great that he's going to use it. What fun are they just to look at? I enjoy just letting them idle and put put arround while doing work. Amazes most people when they see them.

Hate to see that happen. I'm sure you'll be able to get it up and going before too long though. Neighbor was burning trash and lost his gas cap one day. He got off the crawler and was tending the burn pile when all of a sudden the vapors must have caught from the fire. He had the lil MC up and going...

mj- I doubt you could ever get them 'right' again. I think Lavoy can set you up very reasonably with fiber disks. In the overall picture.. do you want to have to break the track again adn pull the final just to save a few dollars? I'd go ahead and replace atleast the fiber disks. I'd also check the ...

MJ- While there maybe a way to get them moving with out tear down, you'll be miles and miles ahead by going ahead and pulling the final drives off and getting in there. At this point in it's life it's time to give it a little love. I'd suggest you get a copy of the parts and service manual just for ...

Have patience and take your time. In the end it will be worth it. Just don't get yourself in a bind as parts can be heavy!

Dewy- If you could get some pictures it will help more than me posting pictures of my machine. Others on the board with more experience than I would probably be able to look at the pictures and tell you more. Remember the MC, 40C, 420C all were really close in appearance... especially at a distance....

Tag should be located on the left side as you sit on the tractor under the fuel outlet on the fuel tank. It should be rivited to the centersection. In the picture here it's about dead center under the fuel line. http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y49/NCSU4x4/420%20Crawler/DSC01536.jpg Hope that helps ...
