I've got a straight 450 that won't charge. I've taken the alternator and had it checked out and it's ok. This dozer has a Motorola alternator and I presume it's original. My first dozer too. I'll look at it and make sure it's in usable condition. However I just checked the p/n for the 450 and the 450c and they are different. Maybe someone on here knows if they will work.

I just had the engine out of my straght 450 and it had a tachometer cable but I don't have a tach and don't plan to get one. I don't know if it's the same p/n but if it is you're welcome to it. I didn't check it close but I think it's ok.

Just got my straight 450 back together and everything seems to be working fine except the power steering. The brakes and clutches are working properly but the left steering lever is harder to pull than the right. It feels very much like the difference between power steering on a tractor or truck. th...

Does anybody know if the transmission filter case (#10) can be removed without taking the top transmission cover off?
This is on a 450 straight.

Hey Randy. Yes I'm making some pretty good progress and yes I fixed the clutch housing. I'll try to post some pictures of my learning experience on this thing. I'll put them in the Show and Tell section.

I agree Jim. I did get the manuals for this dozer and that was my "first part". However the manual I have doesn't have an illustration like you posted. Thanks again.
