Re: Any of you ever remove an idler ?
No dude you will have to break the track. There is no way to get enough slack to get those out without breaking it. I thought you already knew you had to break the track. What I'm saying is once you have the track apart you get it out of the way so all you have is the track frame with the idler stil...

Re: Any of you ever remove an idler ?
Once you remove those four bolts you slide the idler forward and off of the track frame. It is heavy however and you will need a lifting source to help. I have been lucky enough to not have to completely remove the idler in order to get the adjuster out and off of the track frame. So I would try to ...

Re: 650G Trans slipping in 2nd gear
Hey... welcome to the board. Jim has done a great job of explaining how these G series transmissions work. I would suspect you probably have the same issue with first gear but it hasn't gotten to the point of showing you the slippage yet. First gear is less likely to slip given the ratios being smal...

Re: JD. 700H just turning circles
Rodents cause more issues and damage to heavy equipment than any other source. Even us humans. I figured you either had some sort of rodent chewing on the wires or was lightning stuck. You got lucky dude. Usually they cross things up and it scrambles the PCU. Glad you got it sorted before they did a...

Re: tranny gunk
Yes you can remove the cover and no you won't hurt anything by using diesel fuel to rinse / clean things. When you do refill the transmission I would add a can or bottle of anti fungal / bacteria treatment as well. The slime or gunk is actually a bacteria / fungus that will grow in petroleum product...

Re: JD. 700H just turning circles
Dude I hate to be the bearer of bad news but you really don't have a choice but to have the dealer come out and plug their monitor up to your machine. Unfortunately that is the way of things these days. If I were to make a guess I would say a couple of things might be the culprit. One is rodents get...

Re: engine cover question
That gap is normal. Not sure why Deere left this completely open but they did. The side shields slip into a couple of slots or tabs at the front and have two bolts that secure them at the back towards the operator. I know the purpose is for air flow and this gap allows air to be pulled in and blown ...

Re: JD350B Brakes
And yes, 77Ford may be right... you may just have a weak motor. So what does it do when you start it up? Does it start and run easily or is it low on compression? He makes a valid point that the motor may need to have the compression checked to see if it is running as strong as it should.

Re: JD350B Brakes
In all my years of being around 350s this is a new one. When you say you have it blocked up and "Tracks Loosened" what exactly does that mean? Did you get the track adjusters backed off so there is no chance of them being too tight? As in do you have lots of slack in each track? The only thing left ...

Re: Is 350 backhoe interchangeable with a 450 ?
Yes the 450 is wider by quite a bit. However I couldn't remember if they had configured the mounting to be the same on both machines. Especially the older ones that used the 9300 hoe. But it has been at least 40 years since I was around where we had both machines together. I was thinking our constru...

Re: Is 350 backhoe interchangeable with a 450 ?
Well when I talked to my friends they didn't remember any better than I could. Our general consensus was that maybe not. Your best bet would be to measure the center lines of the mounts between the two machines. 350 and 450. The hydraulics hook the same and you wouldn't have an issue there. But we'r...

Re: 350 Clutch
Not sure where you will ever find a re-built reverser for one of these 350s. I highly recommend you check with Lavoy who owns this site first. I know he keeps a lot of new parts that will help you out. Otherwise there is PB&H out in New Hampshire and Zimmerman Tractor here in Missouri. You could als...

Re: 350C Reverser/Transmission
Hello and welcome to the madness!! :D I will try to answer as much of this as I can given the information you have given us. Your fluid levels can and will transfer from the reverser to the transmission in a few different ways. The prior post is correct in that the two units do not share a common su...

Re: Is 350 backhoe interchangeable with a 450 ?
I think they are but... It has been forever since I was last around the two side by side. The Hoes are the same but the brackets may be a bit different where they mount to the machines. I will ask a couple of friends of mine to be sure but I think I remember them being the same for both machines.

Re: JD350B Brakes
Yes... if you oil those tracks it will collect and then keep more dirt than if you just let them be dry. It won't hurt to use some sort of penetrant for a one time kind of thing. However water is the best resource for this as it is the best penetrant. Even if you do oil them it will eventually dry u...
