Hi,

Yep. The AC 45's or Autolite 216's work better than the Champion H10's in both my 420c and 430w. The H10's tend to foul up in both machines.

Hi, Some wives *do* understand, and sometimes that's a bad thing, too. I happen to be married to a farm girl who loves power tools more than I do. She's more into wood, and I'm into metal, so we have to have two sizable workshops, not just one. She also has her own JD tractors, as well as liking to ...

Hi,

There was a Hydro reverser for the 420? I don't recall that one, just the Gear and Differential styles. I thought that the Hydro didn't come along until the 1010 series. Learn something new every day! :)

hi, Yes, I vote Green as well, just for originality. Or, do I?? Hmmmm. I wouldn't take points off for it being yellow. Lots of them were yellow to begin with, anyway. Besides, who am I to talk? I have an 'M' painted up like a 420 with the yellow stripe, and I even used the *new* style JD green and y...

Hi, 2 MB per image is pretty darned small for reproduction at the size I'm thinking of for a calendar: 8x10" size range at 300 dpi. My 6 MP DSLR images are 18 MB in the Tiff format, which is the file format I'd expect to send to a print shop. In order to get an image down to 2 MB, I'd have to compre...

Hi,

I noticed him as well, and also could not make any sense out of what he posted. Next time I see something like that, I'll let you know right away.

Hi, Not to worry. They can come back from being *way* dead with greater ease than sitting and watching TV. Well, maybe not quite that easy, but pretty darned easy. Story Time: This is about a poor, old JD 'M' wheel tractor. Sorry about that (in a crawler forum). :p A bit of history. My uncle came ba...

LOL... Yeah if it's free and out of gear, they'll roll real easy. And it doesn't take much of a slope to get going on it's own. Don't ask me how I know. :o Hi, Don't have to ask. I know how you know! ;) My worst experience was plowing snow, before I realized that there was a layer of ice un...

Hi, Sigh. That looks lovely. My old place had a very nice 30x40 foot workshop and had lots of that nice, flat, grey stuff. I could have easily ripped two of these poor old girls apart in there, and not even had any extra bits wander into the machine shop area. Of course, I didn't work on crawlers in...

Hi, As far as the similarities between the crawlers and the wheel tractor 420's go, they're pretty much the same only in the engine and transmission areas. Once you get past the tranny, things start to change (i.e. no differential). The final drives are very different and, of course, there's the who...

Hi,

Maybe we could have it at Lavoy's place. I think he's about the same distance from everyone. ;)

Might want to wait a few months, though. ;) ;)

Hi,

Yes, they are very interesting. I've seen quite a few crawler riggings I've never seen before. Deere made quite a few variations on the theme, didn't they?

Hi, Let me know at some point if you do want to sell the 3-pt on it's own. I'd love to add one to my 420, mainly to hang a bush hog onto. I grow tired of worrying about tires on tractors when I can't see what's in these old fields in this new place we bought a year ago. I've looked around the local ...
