BELTS
na the fan belt is about 1/8 " thick an cracked all to hell. it cost me $12 fer two new belts from napa . jus gotta figgure out hot to put 'em on now. hoping for a service manual fer x-mas

so i pulled the generator out my Uncles-prev owner said it was shot. I dropped the 18 bucks on ebay for new brushes and bearings. i tor it apart, found the brushes worn out, the bearings rusted up and the field had the tape falling apart. cleaned 60 years o crap out of the housing slapped on some pa...

Thats very simular to what I was thinking. I have put that project on back burner for now, headgaskets in mrs van takes priority.

1950 mc
Dough! Sorry I didn't post what my crawler is. My pride an joy is a1950 mc. It's been sittin fer about 15years an has a loader like a skid steer has on it. No blade so Im pretty amped to put it to use![/img]

homemade track pads
Soooo I'm looking at my crawler tracks where it sat for the last 15 years. Where the pads were in the dirt they have actually come loose from the chain. the carriage bolts are welded to the pads but rusted badly so I don't think i can tighten them without 'em braking. Has anyone made pads? it looks ...

NO BRAKES!! Mc crawler
It runs and moves,but no stopping. What I mean is the tracks move and steer. the left pedal is clutch. the right pedal is there for looks right now. is it for the brakes? it was pretty fun to get off the trailer, line her up and I was going weather i wanted to or not. I know brakes just slow ya down...

its RUNNNNNNING!
Put coil, cap,rotor,wires,points hit the starter an it popped off an ran like a top! it moved, grooved and the bucket even worked well. wooo hooo!!!!!

balljoint press
So i'm a auto tech by trade. not really sure about track pins and stuff but would a balljoint press work for this? they use 'em on big rigs for pins also.

compression check
well the only way I had to check compression was with my thumb over plug hole. it went "phhhhhttttt" and pushed my thumb away. yep reallly accurate huh?

dont think its the points
I had pulled off the cap an rotor, the points looked o/k. with ignition on the points sparked a bit. i swapped out the condensor for a known good one, checked power and ground @ coil but no spark. tried swapping in an old small block chev but that one had broken nuts so i couldn't use it. I ordered ...

new to me mc crawler
So my crawler is 150 miles away under some tarps. its been there for 10 years. I went up there, unearthed it an tried to start it. so my questions are : what direction does the engine turn over? I thought these were pos ground but the cables fit the other way... i hooked it up pos ground an it spins...
