Re: John Deere 450c steering clutch adjustment
Thank you for confirming it is a 450C, so it has wet steering clutches. When the engine is running they are pressurized during operation with oil from the transmission oil system, through the steering control valves under the seat. Pulling a lever (or stepping on a pedal if you have pedal steer) mov...

Re: John Deere 450c steering clutch adjustment
I asked some questions when you posted about this last month that the answers to might help people help you. Here is a copy of my post: "Good afternoon. You are 100% sure it is a C with wet clutches? I only ask as the 450s seem to have a habit of turning up with C decals on them because people don't...

Re: 350C Dozer Transmission Capacity ?
I may be wrong but I believe the 10 gallons is the transmission, steering clutches, and final drives. It will take time for it to run out to those compartments when filled through the transmission dipstick port. On my 450E there are fill ports for the steering clutches that can be used if everything...

Re: Newbie with a MC crawler undergoing "Rustoration"
I was a field mechanic for years. I found Snap-On tools were more likely to come up missing than the lower brands, like SK and Wizard, and if they got dropped in the mud I didn't feel as bad. I had, and have, some Snap-on tools; along with about every other brand. Most Snap-ons were purchased for sp...

Lavoy can likely answer for sure but I don't think there was an SAE bell housing for a 2010.

Re: Newbie with a MC crawler undergoing "Rustoration"
Over the years I have seen many Harbor Freight/China type socket sets small to large, including at work, I have to admit I even have some. What I have found is the sockets will hold up (very seldom have seen a socket or extension break) but the ratchets (and sometimes breaker bars) don't last or tak...

Re: Newbie with a MC crawler undergoing "Rustoration"
You are making progress and well underway. getting some heavier wrenches and sockets will help, sometimes even those break so watch your footing when things are turning hard. A sudden tool failure, or fastener breaking, can dump you fast! On the safety side, one thing I do see and want to mention is...

Re: Tips for hydraulic bleed after full system swap?
The system is self bleeding, just work the functions, you don't need to crack fittings. If anything unhook the wire from the injection pump and crank it in a few bursts while holding the lift lever engaged to let the pump pull oil in. Once it starts to lift, start it and cycle the functions full str...

Re: H-flow pump puttin, total new lines havin- 1st time doin
Is the gate valve (I am assuming that is in the suction line) over sized so as not to be a restriction in the suction line? Most valves, gate and other are less than full flow for the size of the pipe they are threaded for, unless designated as full flow valves. Also is it a complete metal valve? Ma...

Re: tank heater
Good morning Keith, I'll don't have a 1010 but I will take a shot at this, hopefully someone who has or has had a working one will be along. From the parts catalog, a couple web searches, and some old posts here (and other sites); it looks like the block drain at the left front of the engine was use...

Re: 4000 Winch Weldco-Beales MFG Arch
Sorry, no experience with them. Shaft through rollers held in frame with pins/bolts? Bearings or bushings in rollers? There's nothing on their site I could see that shows how those are built/assembled, hard to help without more info, so Bruce's idea would be about a good a guess as any based on avai...

Re: Correct torque for crankcase oil drain plug
I can't say I ever saw a torque spec for a drain plug. Be sure you have the sealing washer between the pan and plug head. The JD part number is T13213 for the aluminum washer. You might do well to replace the washer, if you haven't ever done that. They get hard, crushed, and worn; then don't seal as...

Re: Rubber hose from radiator to reverser
Glad you got an answer and some hose. That is why I use the JD part numbers when working with the dealer parts people. What you find on a hose for Identification is adapt to be out of date after a few years (as you found out from Gates) and the dealer parts people don't work with what is on the hose...
