Lavoy I was looking at the holes that the rivets are in yesterday and they look to be oblonged out . So it will be the bolt and weld method of repair on them . Might make an additional plate for the inside to help spread the load more effectively . I was puttering yesterday on the crawler while wait...

R&R started on my 420-C

After I got the track off from under the track frame , I check to see how much slop was in the idler bushings . The bushings have a little slop but the right idler bracket can be lifted about an 1/8" . t...

Gil , if I get the time next week to run the material out to my machinist , he could have them done in about a week from what he said . The ones he will be making will be from aluminum tube stock instead of plastic , after I emailed him the drawing we discussed it and decided to make them from alumi...

Casting number on the final drive housing is M- 938 - T . Now onto the fenders , the rear bracket (TE281YT) does it bolt on to the outside of the steering clutch housing ear or to the inside of the ear ? Just something that is unclear . I have had them setting on the tracks and figure that the they ...

Lavoy you are right it is for an older crawler as I checked the face dimension of the axle seal retainer mounting surface and the rear bearing cap mounting surface . It is approximately 1/2" shorter than the one on the crawler . Now that I am on the hunt for another Final drive housing that will fit...

Paul . Another Vote for Kroil . I have found it to work on some very stubborn bolts in the past . And it cames in gallon cans or aerosol cans . I bought a gallon can several years ago and still have about a quart left in it . Your trick with the saw dust would work with the Kroil also . But I just g...

jd , that is why I added the maybe . I want to change the bushing in the idlers while I have the tracks off to switch the position of the cleats . The left side idler bushings are shot , and the right side is not far behind them . Once I get the parts here for the final drive I will do the right sid...

Cornhead Grease ?

I am working up a parts list to do the final drives , rollers and idlers on my 420 crawler and remembered that corn head grease was mentioned as lubricant for the bushings in the rollers and the idlers on these machines . Has anyone here tried this grease ? I looked on JDparts site and came up with ...
