Yes, the best thing with any crawler is to store it under cover, and up on boards or logs or something like that. There's just too many parts on a crawler that don't like exposure to water. ;) I hadn't thought about the tracks freezing to the ground, boards are a good idea in the winter. Anything s...

It had half the oil pressure it was supposed to. When we drained the crankcase nothing but diesel fuel came out! Leaking injector will more ...

Do the pads look like this? http://216.104.73.215/jdcrawlers/gallery/cache/Lindeman%20[1943%20~%201949]/600_image19.jpg I noticed while browsing the photo gallery that these tracks are different in that the grouser is to the rear. Most tracks the grouser hits the ground first. The main thing to look...

Also, do NOT (one says this a lot with this style reverser), ever, try and use the main transmission in reverse with the reverser in reverse to attempt to gain an additional forward speed. Guess what happens if you do? Why is this a problem? Because the reverse clutch isn't as strong as the forward...

Thanks for all that info, especially Stan! I will look at the adjustment of the valves. You mean the rods with yokes on them? Definitely plenty of weight on the front, I was just thinking the smaller tracks are fine if it is purely a tractor. Where we were clearing the trail in the woods, it follows...

New 420 owner, lotsa questions.
Name is Ray, I live in upstate NY. My father runs a machinery repair and fabrication shop on 22 acres, partially wooded, great home for a little bulldozer. A couple years ago a guy I know bought this 420c, serial number 109,464, and brought it in for some work. I thought it was the neatest thing eve...
