Gil, Great points, and likely the reason the hood was off when he found it. The gas hood would not fit so they just left it off once they swapped in the DD engine. My thoughts as well. The hood and belly pan were found in a different location from the remainder of the crawler. I believe they were s...

Thanks for all the replies. I have the starter off now and will give it a good checkup, as well as checking the battery, even though it is new. Will let you know what I find out.

Re: price check

Are you selling the whole machine or the loader and engine seperate? With the hood, grill, and skid plates off, I would guess something went bad on the engine. There doesn't look to be much adjustment left on the tracks and that means probably pins/bushings quite worn and good chance the same for th...

The stud on the starter where the battery cable connects gets pretty warm when I attempt to start. Thanks!

Price Check

Hello, I am curious what a 2-53 Diesel motor, in unknown, but complete (as far as I know) condition is worth? Also a 831 loader? I have no experience with either of these two items and therefore no idea what they are worth. I am planning to sell them. If you would like to see pictures, look here: ht...

Starting issues

I seem to be having intermittent starting issues on my 430. Sometimes it cranks over and starts like a champ, then all of the sudden it seems like the starter does not have the umph it needs to roll the engine over at all. Earlier today I went to start it for the first time in a month or so. It cran...

Gearmatic 8A Winch Question

Will an 8A winch, currently mounted on a 1960 440IC, mount onto a 1960 430C without modification? Are there any differences between the mounting on a 440 vs. a 430?
Thanks Dave

Update: I did a little more research tonight after work. The relief valve that was leaking seems to have slowed down. When I first tried it, the casting around the valve was always full of oil. I kept wiping it up, and it kept coming back. However now it appears to have slowed down, maybe even stopp...

Upon further investigation, I did notice some slight leakage around the top of one of the relief valves. Also, the relief valve that is leaking will move slightly up and down when I press on it. While the other relief valve, which is not leaking, appears to be tight. Could a leaky relief valve cause...

430 Hydraulic Question

First of all I am hydraulic handicapped and need some advice. I just mounted a 62 blade on my 430 today. Everything works well when I raise the blade. However it will not hold and immediately begins to drop when I release the lever. I don't see any leaks. According to the parts book I have a "single...

430 Timing Issue

I ran into an interesting situation today while attempting to start my 430 for the first time. I could get it to pop every once in awhile, but could not get it to take off and run, no matter how I rotated the distributor. After lots of pondering, I began to second guess whether or not I had timed th...

Hard to tell much, but judging by the hood laying in the bucket I would guess 420C.

Anyone have a throttle lever for a late (after 159055) 430? Part/casting number T12607T.
Thanks - Dave
