Re: 350C Clutch Control Valve Adjustment
I made a gauge to clamp to the hand bar on the dozer to help set the clutch valves and brake linkage. This was a scrap piece of wood and a metal bracket used to secure electrical conduit. I started with Leonards procedure to get in the ball park. Then made some final adjustments with this gauge moun...

Re: JD350C winch shaft wear? (Replaced)
I found a used winch shaft out of a 350B model with less wear than mine. I had some trouble pulling mine out and ended up drilling and tapping the end to accept a bolt. This allowed me to use a puller to get the shaft and bearing out. At some point some moisture had gotten in the case and caused the...

Re: JD350C clutch seals?
Posting an update. The black ring is a thrust washer and is shown in the parts manual in a different section (0210-2 - Ring Gear Assembly) than the clutch assembly. Posted is a picture of the new thrust washers and the parts manual page, item #2. The JD parts shown are the new part number R76674 tha...

Re: JD350C clutch seals?
Im finally starting to re-assemble the dozer. I have the left side clutch and brake installed. To my surprise, I just found the brown ring in the picture on my bench. I was pretty sure it went to the clutch. Upon checking this post it is confirmed that the brown washer/ring does in fact go on the cl...

Re: JD350C Final Drive Bearings and Grease?
Thanks for the information Leonard. I packed all the bearings with grease. Makes sense and I'd hate to score or gall one up because it didnt get enough lubricant fast enough on a fresh rebuild.

JD350C Final Drive Backlash
I have new bearings, races and seals in the final drives. I assembled per the manual, I hope. I was able to get the axle preload/backlash of 0.001 to 0.005 with about 1/2 of a turn of the axle nut once it made contact with the washer and inner bearing. I turned the axle clockwise and counter clockwi...

Re: JD350C Final Drive Bearings and Grease?
I think i found the answer, I just had to re-read the instructions. Im honestly not used to using a manual for most anything. The pinion bearings and quil get packed with grease, but apparently not the axle bearings. I'm very open to any lessons learned or tips on putting these finals back t...

JD350C Final Drive Bearings and Grease?
For some reason I thought I read that the final drive axle and pinion bearing should be packed with grease for assembly. However I don't see that mentioned anywhere in the service manual for the 350C. The axle bearings will be submerged but the pinion bearings might only get splashed. Anyone have an...

Re: JD350C Final Drive Axle Spacers?
Ok, on a closer inspection, the spacer part #4 is present. https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-r0ajWq64WhU/YETbprkpdiI/AAAAAAAAR2Q/lcPWvdVgqgcZL8sdWR99C3A18aNTlUvbACLcBGAsYHQ/s280/1615125384743909-0.png It's rather narrow and if I'd pulled the bearing off it would have been obvious. I'm slowly learni...

Re: JD350C Final Drive Axle Spacers?
Maybe I've figured part of this out. The service manual shows part "9A - snap ring ( -276370)". I'm going to assume this means upto serial number 276370. Which would be mid 1977, based on the FAQ page with serial numbers. But the spacer, "9b - spacer (276371- )" should be on all models from m...

JD350C Final Drive Axle Spacers?
Looking for some clarification between the service manual and parts manual for a JD350C. I checked the end play in the final drive axle and it was greater than the specs in the manual. The castle nut was also loose but still had the cotter pin in place, so I decided to pull it apart to inspect and c...

Re: JD350C winch shaft wear?
I'll check the coupling splines in the morning. If the coupling is just as worn would that lean towards replacing both sooner?
The winch will definitely be for occasional use.

Re: JD350C clutch seals?
I saw those two rings on the clutch when I was taking the picture. I rotated them so the "joints" are 180 degrees apart. But i didnt put two and two together to associate them with the parts in the diagrams.
Thanks Jim for the clarification, makes total sense now.

Tom

Thoughts on the condition of this winch shaft in the back of my 350C dozer: https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-U47TE8UKmmc/YDq4u4i7cKI/AAAAAAAARpw/r7J1kWiQKnQJXrAHOxGXISDkfBzCPZpuwCLcBGAsYHQ/s1600/1614461114942876-0.png https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-4yF99gJ_lh4/YDLeWhy3-8I/AAAAAAAARjs/5Ln7nbrk7mIZvQuzV...
