Re: Help with wiring

If it has been working ok for a couple years, check the battery and I believe you will find it the negative terminal is hooked to ground and the positive goes to the starter. Seeing that Delco alternator in your pictures tells me to expect it to be negative ground, not positive. I say that because u...

Re: Adding a 2nd directional control valve

A little more info may help, what are you trying to do? What is the second valve going to control and how many spools is it?

If you are looking to add something like a grapple to the bucket, I think you should be able to find another valve section and add into your existing stack valve.

Re: 350B Stalled. Fuel Issue?

Good point from Bruce, check the vent as pointed out. Stan's write up covers it very well. It won't hurt to hook up a test light to the pump terminal that powers the fuel solenoid. Mount it where you can see it while running to monitor it to see if it drops out intermittently. Also check the other t...

Re: JD 4cylinder engine - HELP - WHAT DO I HAVE??

The article B Town gave you the link to has a lot of good info and there may be some info there to help you. oldmetalmender did a good job documenting his project. If your dealer won't/can't help you, will they refer you to a regional contact? Give Lavoy a phone call and see if he has any thoughts o...

Re: JD 4cylinder engine - HELP - WHAT DO I HAVE??

Power wise there shouldn't be an issue. My only concern would be the type of block you have. I don't have that answer, JD might. Are you swapping all your 219 accessories to it? A compressor engine will run in a limited speed range so the injection pump/governor will be different. Being coupled to a...

Re: 350B Stalled. Fuel Issue?

It is possible the transfer pump is failing. They often let fuel into the engine base and contaminate the engine oil as well, when they fail. It might not hurt to replace it, they aren't too expensive. You should check with Lavoy and see what he has for a pump.

Re: Up date on 1010C diesel

Yes the injection pump supplies high pressure fuel to the injectors. However the injector nozzle has to be on the end of that line and the fitting tight for the pressure to develop and "pop" the injector. The injector functions kind of like a relief valve. The pump builds pressure against the spring...

Re: JD 4cylinder engine - HELP - WHAT DO I HAVE??

If you can find out the manufacturer and model of the air compressor you may be able to find out what engines they used. Some I know of used the 4239 and newer engines and I don't think JD was as big into supplying engines in the 202 era. Another thing can be the block itself even if the displacemen...

Re: 450c steering clutches

The steering clutches have constant oil supply under pressure. They release when the oil is interrupted (dumped by the steering valve). On flat ground without a load (like pushing against something) pulling a lever to disengage the steering clutch, with no brake, may not turn the machine. Are you pu...

Re: JD 4cylinder engine - HELP - WHAT DO I HAVE??

Do you know what machine you replacement engine came from? The prefix CD is used to designate the JD Saran, France location in some places, serial number for one place. Could it be the block was cast there and the engine came from a Mannheim built machine? Just a guess. You may need to go talk with ...

Re: steering not working

The 450B production stopped in 1976 so yours wouldn’t be a 1979. Your serial number (450B C 173098) is for a 450B with a 6405 dozer (C), according to the parts catalog. Serial number 173098 makes it a 1974 machine, using the list of serial numbers on this site’s FAQ Board. The service manuals do not...

Re: JD 450 tune up (Euro Market)

You will need to cross check the part numbers between your actual parts catalogs and the catalog for the US 450s to see what is the same in your search for used parts. As I posted your parts catalog, PC4119, is not on line for viewing. If you can find a 450A parts machine, you may need to physically...

We need to see inside that fuel tank filler neck to see if the vent is in there, like the U.S. 450s.

Re: 350B Stalled. Fuel Issue?

From the 350B parts catalog. "THE BASIC TRACTOR SERIAL NUMBER OF TRACTORS BUILT PRIOR TO SERIAL NUMBER 142200 IS LOCATED ON THE FRONT SEAT PANEL. THE BASIC TRACTOR SERIAL NUMBER FOR TRACTORS BUILT AFTER SERIAL NUMBER 142199 IS LOCATED ON THE BATTERY BOX FRONT PLATE." Look for two 1/8" holes about 3 ...
