420 rail heighth

Mike, The rail height for the 420 rail is 3.200 inches from the pad mounting surface to the top where the roller contacts it.The approximate rail thickness of the roller contact surface is .812 inches. These measurements were taken from new old stock parts but, as with any forgings, there is some err...

931 hydraulic level

Hughy, I am not the sharpest knife in the drawer but I am persistant. I went out to my 440 loader and checked the fluid level with the bucket on the ground and it was full.I then raised it to full height and guess what. The fluid just touched the dipstick. This loader works well so I figured there is ...

hydraulic level

Hughy, The condition you describe sounds like the way a single acting hydraulic system works. The cylinders on an 831 should all be double acting.Check and see if you have down pressure by trying to raise the front of the machine off the ground with the bucket. If there is no down pressure then someon...

Bucket Position

Hughy,
Position of bucket does not effect fluid level in tank.Fluid applied to
one side of the piston is offset by an equal amount flowing back from the other side as the piston moves.

Hello,
This thing looks kinda spindly but I would kill for a set rails that good.
Since there seems to be no three point on the crawler how could you
do anything in the field with it.It could pull a wagon but then anything on rubber would be more efficient.JMHO.Jim Anderson

430 crank driven pump

Hello, One of my 430 crawlers came from the factory with a crank driven hydraulic pump according to Two Cylinder Club's research. The machine does not have this setup on it now and the parts and service manuals don't have any info on this setup. Was the front support different than standard? If it was...

420 tracks

GC,
I tried to post earlier and it got lost in cyberspace. One way
for getting track back together is to work the split
on the sprocket then the sprocket teeth will hold each end
close enough to get the pin in.Get the split at about three
oclock and you will be good to go.JimAnderson

62 blade

Hello,
I have seen a 40c not far from me for sale that has a nice
62 blade on it.I'm really not interested in the crawler but I'd
like a 62 blade for my 430.Can someone give me a ballpark
price for the blade assembly alone? Thanks,JimAnderson

Skidder, If you are using a two wheel drive rubber tired tractor to skid logs with and its less than 6000 or 7000 pounds in weight you'll love the little 420 c for logging,They are stable and pull like crazy.I've used both my 3020 ag tractor and 40 c for skidding and the crawler is a lot easier to m...
